Welcome to the Photo-Africa Blog!: Elephant Visitors – Brilliant! — This is rich. I would think this scares people to death. Luckily the Elephants are as baffled as anyone and haven’t wrecked the place.
A regular occurance at the Mfuwe Lodge in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia where the lodge was unwittingly built on the elephant’s traditional path through to some wild mango trees on the property.
The herd of a dozen or so elephants walk through the lodge’s reception area at least twice a day for about 4 weeks and then sporadically for about another 3 weeks to feed on the trees.
Found by Don Zevchek.
Didn’t I see an old movie like this, with um Elizabeth Taylor……I think it was called Elephant Walk! But yeah, I could see it scaring the shit out of people. Like my wife who is afraid of COWS!
“Luckily the Elephants are as baffled as anyone and haven’t wrecked the place.”
Until, the 1st bull that is in musk walks in…
Wouldn’t want to be the “maintenance engineer” there! lol
Or until a spoiled rich kid teases an elephant with a bag of peanuts.
Look in a mirror and say ‘Elephant Shoes!’.
Thank you John. I’m using this in my next presentation to an IT management group.
Swimming pools in my South African friend’s neighborhood are drank dry by elephants at night. They’re silent, discreet, with excellent night vision.
Wait until they spot an Ivory statue. Then they’ll be pissed.
I guess there is something to be said about an environmental impact study…
whew! I thought it was just me seeing those elephants.
Three days sober and counting!
I’ve heard of this place. This is South Luangwa National Park in Zambia where the elephants cast no shadows and are in actuality two dimensional cut-outs ready for pasting into your favorite photo.
#10 – Don’t ruin their fun…
We gotta caption the bottom photo!
“Uhmmm.. I forgot my room number.”
“Can you please call the bellhop to get my trunk?”
I know… lame.. please do better.
Remember the thing about people who don’t pay attention to history are likely to repeat it?
Elephant Walk (set in Ceylon) had a mansion built in the middle of an E-trail, and was pulverized when the elephants got uppity.
So has this hotel been around since 1954? The movie has.
Ron==not lame, in fact excellent. both the call for captions and the obvious but oh so appropriate call for help with the trunk.
Not one mention of the GOP convention.
#12 Ron, you’re killing me. I’m a sucker for pun.
