Being denied the presidency in the way that he was is, in a sense, the ultimate Davos Man credential. He has the values and the heft and the contacts and the frequent-flier miles of any leading CEO. It’s a treadmill, but a glorious one. And, of course, he’s also gotten very, very rich, another CEO credential. Besides his Current TV payout, he is chairman of his own investment firm and a partner at a venture-capital firm, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Al Gore played a supporting role in inventing the Internet as we know it—but the Internet has played a much larger role in reinventing him. He is a director at Apple and purchased stock options for a fraction of their value, and as a senior adviser to Google, he was able to buy a substantial chunk of options before the company went public—for just a few cents per share, said one business partner.

Gore has leveraged his oddly attained moral stature to become a sort of American prophet—the Goracle. The status was validated by his share of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work on the environment.

Far, I got 4 dogs howling, but not an intelligent response yet.

Here’s a clue: its right in the OP…. and I’ve said it before.

It is amusing. How do you dumb asses think people get rich???

Hmmmm???????????? – – – Yeah, lets hear it: “Hard Work!”

    BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

…..and there you have it, the Republican voting Base. Dumb as rubes admiring those who pick their pockets….. throwing rocks at the police who would stop it.

Pedobreath: I slam all politicians. They aren’t made good nor on my team just because they aren’t as obviously slimy liars as the Pukes.

Cant blame him for wanting to bank on a scam of such magnitude as cap and trade if you’ve no morals.

It appears to me that CO2 it an asset that many want to make into power control and cash with law.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=zkWeZ1YPI88

I had seen this video some years ago. I often think out it when I hear “Carbon footprint” b.s. brought up.

    • bobbo, slapping my forehead with the Obviousness of it all says:

I have to wonder what you think “carbon footprint” means? The link you provide has NOTHING to do with it.

Sad, that is so often the case with Science Deniers.

      Silly Hoomans.

      • MWD78 says:

we’re supposed to worry about our carbon footprints as individuals when companies like the ones in the video are just venting off hundreds of gallons of CO2 for the sole purpose of moving the tank it is in to another location?

        that’s hypocrisy, no “Denialism” involved.

        silly Bobbo.

        • bobbo, slapping my forehead with the Obviousness of it all says:

MW==call me stupid or Pedro, but you are right and wrong at the same time. I viewed the video only as a safety violation issue.

OF COURSE, you are right…still don’t think demacorn is though. Dumblecorn thinks that “carbon footprint” is a silly control issue==BUT you correctly point out that it is the LARGE CARBON FOOTPRINT of venting co2 into the atmosphere like this that CRIES OUT for regulation and whether already or in the future illegal==>it should be taxed for the pollution costs it creats.

Good catch. Glad you are here.

          Refreshing……like a carbonated drink…..but I dither.

He took money for Enron to push for Cap and Trade, then made money off of such schemes. I just want to know if he invested in any solar plants that produce energy at night.

    • msbpodcast says:

solar plants that produce energy at night

You know they solved that problem already, don’t cha?

They reflect and concentrate sunlight on salt (in steel pipes) until it melts (801°celcius/1,474° Fahrenheit) and use the molten salt to boil water to drive a turbine and generate electricity.

The salt can cool all night long boiling water for the turbine.

      Its a fairly efficient process.

      • MikeN says:

You misunderstood the question. It was not a knock on solar power, but rather the subsidies. Some criminal enterprises in Europe produced power at night to get the subsidies.

  14. MikeN says:

I will not cede more power to the state. I will not willingly cede more power to anyone, not to the state, not to General Motors, not to the CIO. I will hoard my power like a miser, resisting every effort to drain it away from me. I will then use my power, as I see fit. I mean to live my life an obedient man, but obedient to God, subservient to the wisdom of my ancestors; never to the authority of political truths arrived at yesterday at the voting booth. That is a program of sorts, is it not? It is certainly program enough to keep conservatives busy, and liberals at bay. And the nation free.

So if one steals big enough. The term or charge of “insider trading”, never gets applied. That’s only for the pipsqueak investors. Not the multi-billionaires. Who obviously traded in favors, to get unfair advanced options (and/or bargain priced ones) that the general public never could. That’s “raiding the game”. And the SEC doesn’t do squat about it, just because Gore was a former US VP? And no taint of corruption must be allowed to tarnish that office. So they let him get away with anything, short of murder?

  18. MikeN says:

Son of Al Gore, Congressman cap-and-trade Ed Markey, in debate tried to claim credit for Facebook, Google, and Twitter.
