– For those that are not satisfied with one screen –
Canova Dual Touch Screen Laptop – Bornrich.org – This seems to be an interesting concept, but using a touchscreen might not be the best way to interface with it. Imagine the possibilities if they used OLEDs, it would be almost like having a book in your hands.
This Dual Touch Screen Laptop from Canova is another ultimate notebook design meant for the creative mind. The notebook features dual display with touch-sensitive screens, sketch pad, music score, graph paper, an electronic pen and a dedicated hardware for its smooth functioning.
Why limit this design idea to Notebooks, this could also be employed for Cellular (Mobile) Phones and PocketPCs. Imagine an iPHONE interface with two screens, that would be cool.
or even with four screens. If used like a book, you could finally show the outside world what you want them to think you’re reading while the inside really shows mad magazine or whatever your favorite might be.

This could finally be the practical solution to reading ebooks while taking a s#it in the crapper.
Just like the Nintendo DS.
Use the bottom screen for input! Being a touch typist, I would simply display my own custom keyboard on the bottom screen.
Imagine using a JPG or GIF keyboard ! A cool visual and sound effect when pressing a virtual key.
As if there was water on top of keys made out of glass, floating just under the surface, making a ripple effect on the bottom screen…
Seriously, I want one, my 17″ 1920×1200 Dell 9400 Inspiron is great as a desktop replacement, it real lousy on the plane and in board meetings.
This is my next laptop…
Three options. One is use an Image Map-esque technology to have a customizable interface. Texture is obviously a problem in this case, but if it’s done right it my be okay.

Multitouch. Watch the video, it speaks for itself.
An external, fold-up keyboard.
And then there’s tablet-esque writing on the screen functionality.
#4, That’s one cool looking multi-touch monitor. Imagine a table with a system like that, similar to that one which appeared on the movie ‘The Island’.
Chances are that Apple is going to make a better looking version and the Apple fanbois will bitch that their macbooks came first before this machine.
A cool visual and sound effect when pressing a virtual key.
When pressing ENTER, I’d want the sound of a typewriter carriage return!
J/P=?
When I press enter I want to hear the sound cashing machine going KA-CHING!
Is this named after Judy Canova, the country-western comedienne of the 40’s and 50’s? Odd choice, but nice that she is remembered..
Just because the Mac is the superior platform is no reason to get pissy, kids.
Rant, rage, scream aggressively.
Oh. Dang. Pedro beat me to it.
What’s the point of MS / Apple rant?
That bad boy will run Linux !
The ultimate MAME32 portable gaming rig. Now I can play the upside down Japanese games.
Couldn’t find a price for this, anyone?
I go for the e-book option. two screens, electronic paper
In a clamshell laptop design, nothing beats keys on the bottom half until we can perfect voice recognition.
Nobody wants to type on a touch-sensitive flat surface. If we did, they would already be in use everywhere as they are cheaper than keys. But people who type want the positive tactile feedback of a keyboard, and anybody who needs to carry a computer around with them types a great deal.
This concept could work for an e-book, but since you don’t have to flip pages you could have a simple fold-back cover and use one screen for a slimmer package and lower cost.
IMNSHO this is a cute toy that won’t get any traction in the market.
