Two fifth-grade boys were held on $100,000 bond each after being charged with conspiracy to commit murder at their school in Washington state, officials said.
The boys, ages 10 and 11, were expected to be formally charged in juvenile court with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, possession of a firearm and witness tampering for allegedly bringing a stolen gun and a knife to school and threatening to kill a number of classmates…
The boys at Fort Colville Elementary School were taken into custody Thursday after a search revealed one boy had a knife and a handgun in his backpack.
During interviews, police learned the boys intended to use the weapons Thursday, Stevens County Prosecutor Tim Rasmussen said.
“These young men conspired to kill,” Rasmussen said. “It was interrupted by the bravery of a fourth grader who saw something and said something … and interrupted a murder.”
Colville School District Superintendent Michael Cashion said the plot was discovered before school started Thursday…
“We’ve been told that the boys had a plan to kill an ex-girlfriend … and harm other students,” Cashion said. “There was no list, but names were given to the police.”
“I can’t get my mind around it,” he said.

But try and go after sex or violence, and they say it has no effect.
To say they have no effect is truly naive.
The problem is parenting sucks in this country. They sheeple drop off their spawn on to the schools and make it parenting someone else’s problem.
When I was a kid I had strict parents and there was just as much violence. I turned out to be an amazing, brilliant and law abiding citizen.

All too often I see parents allowing their tweeners to play ‘Rated M’ video games and watch ‘PG13,NC17,14A,18A,R’ movies.
There is this little thing called parenting that no longer exists with the majority of people. Most parents are too lazy and believe they are so entitled that society should pay for and raise their children.
Stuff like that would get you labeled a weirdo on this blog. Parents should allow their kids to consume whatever the culture produces.
That sort of talk will get you labeled a Racist, as most of the parents going to jail would be the proud parents of all those 2 million or so mostly black and mexican gang bangers in the USA.

Don’t feel bad, lots of people with no parental experience feel qualified to give advice to real life parents. Boy, sounds easy doesn’t it?
It would be not only easier but proper if parents were held responsible for their kids actions. Not because of judgment on good/bad parenting. Because child is not capable of proper judgment until approximate age of 16-21, biologically (as most things in biology, no clear cut date but essentially no human under 16 is able to make sound judgment, most get it by 18 and if you don’t get it by 21, you’ll never have it. Independent of culture, race, time,…). Until that age parents must be held responsible for their children actions. Achieving two goals: punishment of those culpable; incentive for parents to take responsibility for their children upbringing/actions as they should.

I’ll say it again. A disenfranchised, disillusioned and sociopathic youth culture has immediate access to handguns. This is why we must invade Canada.
First I’ll say I’m not real impressed with Generation Y or any other generation after it. GenX isn’t all that great either, other than being successfully selfish.

Not sure that the reaction was completely logical. The kid I took a revolver off and his buddy didn’t have to make bond but then they were 2nd graders and times were different then. They certainly did have to appear before a judge. I do know that the thinking of the students was completely delusional. Oh well in my case no one was physically injured and I think the kids got some much needed counseling.

Oh I don’t know, America’s movie and/or Tv culture? Which the kids now get 24/7 via cable, satellite, video games, and the internet. And I’m sure the education system has its favorites, for them to see. Just as we were all once forced to read The Catcher in the Rye. When I think “Mysterious Island” would have been a much better choice.
I think I can still count on one hand’s fingers. The number of Tv shows I’ve ever saw that could be labeled as non-violent, in philosophy. If not in their blow by blow, moments. “Kung-Fu” comes first to mind. But as the martial arts it featured, was emphasized more by network execs. As a young teen, I didn’t understand its non-violence message, until I was much older.
I understood from actor David Carradine, that the Tv execs insisted on two fight scenes per episode. And I have to believe it had nothing to do with ratings. But because this helped support the Vietnam War, at the time. Because a Tv show only about avoiding conflict, might have cooled young Americans from fighting in a foreign political war. The big three Tv networks, at that time, would have nothing to do with anything too overtly pacifist. I remember one of my favorite series very likely being censored for just that reason.

A few others in this vane may have been “Highway to Heaven”, “Aaron’s Way”, and “Father Murphy”. But I haven’t seen most of these in syndication, to know how non-violent they actually were.
Pacifist American movies, are an even sparser commodity. The few of those that were ever done, generally fall in the category
of comedy or teenage angst. And mostly done around 1970. Which I guess was the one year that Hollywood allowed itself to have a conscience. The rest of the time, they pumped out pro-War movies, by the s**t load.
So don’t ever expect seeing another “Strawberry Statement”, “R.P.M.”, “M*A*S*H”, or “Catch-22” in your lifetime. Or non-violent religious movies, not inspired by Dan Brown’s conspiracy novels.
I’m a bit surprised that they kids weren’t labeled as “bullies” or “bullied”. Or involved in sex with a teacher. Fifth graders plotting over an ex-girlfriend? Since when do kids that young even look at the opposite sex as desirable? Makes you wonder what is sexually maturing some kids ahead of their years? Without supplying the moral code, not to act out violently, when desires aren’t fulfilled.
Mass murderer Carl Panzram once said that if you don’t teach kids the right way to live and think by the age of seven, they’re lost forever.
It’s not Hollywood, video games, etc. It’s the parents who don’t take responsibility and give direction to their kids during these crucial early years.
