The only reason you don’t hear more about these other “stories” is probably because they aren’t as sensational. Yet, these cases do happen with a lot more frequency but only to an average of maybe one or two kids per case. It seems we only hear about them when they get sensational such as if a different race is involved, where violence is alleged and/or if the fictional kidnapper had a gun or something.
So you just have to ask why this is? Why is it that 26 people shot to death is more news worthy than a thousand dead kids who may have been stabbed, poisoned or even tortured to death? Is it because they aren’t all killed by one crazy person? Is it because no one used a gun?! Or could it be because these stories might not get the ratings needed to stay competitive in the media circles?
Point is, we’re not asking the right questions when it comes to guns or even violence. We should be asking the news media (and others) why Newton CT is even news any more. Just look at the other lesser known stories where even more horrible things have happened and it’s almost as if those stories have been shrugged off simply because they’ve already been told at a MOVIE THEATER or on TV!
We might also ask our leaders why they now want to “do something” (stupid) given all the press that’s obviously been manipulated too. Because a more conspiracy minded person might actually think that these incidents were allowed to happen or possibly even coerced through some sort of secret mind control. (And there are some VERY valid reasons to be concerned there as well.)
This is definitely NOT an NRA sponsored video. Everyone would have an AK under their desk or sitting in the flower pot.
The only problem I have with that is if certain people don’t know how to use their flower pot AK47! Not that they don’t know how to use the gun but that they don’t know TACTICS and might not be PREPARED! Things they teach you for your CC permit.

Having a strategy is always a good idea. But without practice or SIMULATION (like a killer might get in a video game) it’s not likely going to help much.
Grab a staple gun and tell him he needs to reload. Then, lunge at him and staple his eyes.

They are either counting shots, or simply changing magazines when one runs out.
10 or 30 it makes no difference. The time to swap a magazine is less than two seconds, especially if they are using side-by-side or flip-over mag connectors.
The people calling for bans who don’t even understand firearms are playing a fool’s game.
What will make a difference is if small-caliber .223 firearms like the AR-15 become banned, and would-be-wackos move into medium-caliber .300/.308 firearms. The damage potential will be much greater since .2 calibers are stopped by most wall designs and .3 calibers go right through. Yes, I do have substantiated proof (gov/univ/rcmp studies).
I think they want to ban “armor piercing” or full metal jacket ammo. as well.
Maybe people will switch to Hydra-Shok then. Much safer.

A better tactic is to conceal yourself until he passes by, then approach quietly from the rear and put his lights out with a well-placed shot to back of the head with your concealed weapon.

Another idea is set up a booby trap in the closet.
Hide in the closet and carefully activate a crossbow or something from the Christian torture book that was already placed inside.
Then, when you hear bad guy comes in. You say “I’m not in here” . Then, he cleverly figures out you’re there, open door and … bam. Crossbow shot in the head.

If you do shoot or staple him, make sure he’s dead or he’ll sue your ass for bodily injury, mental distress, impotence, and bad breath. Then he’ll come after you after he is acquitted. And if you do kill him, his relatives will sue. So your best bet is the let him kill you.

Actually you can buy insurance in case you are involved in a shooting. I have the most you can get. It covers legal fees for WHEN I sued for taking out a fucking dirtbag loser.

Since I haven’t been to the range in years, my gun handling skills have gone to pot. Therefore, I’ve come to the realization that I will probably not be able to stop an active shooter with a gun. So, the only rational decision is keep a grenade at work. I’ll be killed by the shooter anyway, so I may as well take him with me, and who knows, maybe I’ll survive it!
Seriously though. Instead of keeping firearms for the “active shooter” scenario, why not change the laws to allow for civilians to possess flash-bang devices like the cops use? They have their downsides too (they can be deadly if the target is too close and occasionally start fires) but the disorienting effect of them could stop one of those assholes in their tracks long enough for the unarmed survivors to kick the shit out him. I’d be willing to be trained and licensed to carry one of these so I don’t have to worry about taking a headshot with a pistol while under extreme duress.
I usually note the way I come into a building and if other shorter exits are available. NOT for gun play but for fire safety. Doesn’t take any more time or effort, in fact it helps in releaving the boredom of an office visit.
In a word: Telecommute.
In another: Unemployment.
I have my own company (~45 people) and in the company manual it states that people with concealed carry permits must leave the weapon in their car. No weapons in the building.
Viewing the video and reading the responses and considering the Newtown thing, I am changing my policy to allow anyone with a concealed carry permit to carry it on them.
If there was a bad guy, he wouldn’t give a shit about my manual.

1. These crazy shooters tend to be unemployed.
2. A killer isn’t going to honor an at-work gun policy
3. It isn’t employees generally doing this stuff any way.
Of course with a high capicity weapon shooting armor piercing rounds, a shooter could kill you from outside the room while you’re fumbling with the safety. But, when is reality an issue?
That’s what great about a Glock. No Fumbling!
And there is no doubt that if a shooter managed to get into a building without being seen carrying a long arm that he might take out one or two people. But if everyone was armed and trained then it would stop there. There would be no target practice on a dozen unarmed people.
Oh, if someone makes it in with a high capacity clip, he’s taking out more than a two people. The Fort Hood shooter killed 13, and that was on a military base.
So, the average Joe who squeezes off a few rounds at paper targets every other weekend in between football and dinner at a Mexican restaurant is going to go toe to toe with a psycho that probably has body armor and already knows he’s going to die? Even if Average Joe manages to not piss himself and pull his gun, he will likely empty weapon, never hit him, and then either dies or run like the rest of us.
I like guns too, but let’s not pretend the world is a Rambo movie.

Military bases are always gun free zones. The MP’s generally don’t look highly upon people walking around with weapons who aren’t specifically authorized to carry.
The Ft. Hood shooter picked a weapon with an especially high capacity, the FN 5.7mm pistol which can hold 20 rounds per magazine and can pierce most soft body armor, even with SS196 ammo.

Ft Hood : Registered Democrat.
Columbine: Too young to vote; both families were registered Democrats.
Virginia Tech: Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff. Registered Democrat
Colorado Theater: Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign; Occupy Wall Street participant.
Connecticut School Shooter: Registered Democrat; hated Christians
Perhaps we should just disarm all the democrats and let the rest of society take care of them.

Illinois is the only state without conceal-carry. Crime in Chicago is really out of control — more people murdered in Chicago during last 10 years than US soldiers killed in Afghanistan.
And Chicago has one of the strictest gun bans in the nation.
Violent crime is significantly higher in the UK and France (although homicides are far lower).
In the USA, 64% of homicide victims have a criminal record, so a good bulk of the gun violence is between the 2% criminal population.
I think the more unbiased analysis of gun violence in the USA indicates we don’t actually have a “gun violence problem.”
Low rate of violent crime compared to much of Europe and criminals killing each other constitutes the majority of the homicides (I see this as a +, not a minus).
New York’s are pretty much on par with Chicago’s.Why the difference? Hint, you’ll have to think for yourself to figure it out.

Thats for sure. I live in OKC, I heard the blast, and for weeks I drove to work and passed near the blast site on the way, and smelled the decaying bodies. There were many incidents of anti-muslim violence, a hindu man was terrorized by Channel 4 because those morons didn’t know the diff between a muslim and a hindu, and the conspiracy theories flew right and left.
In the end it turned out to be a 100% american anti-government operation, made by a bunch of white guys who think that the government was gonna take their guns and force them to drive electric cars and eat vegetarian food.
In other words, standard rightwing kooks.
