FOXNews.com – Man Zaps Wife’s Grandmother With Taser in Dispute Over Spanking – Local News | News Articles | National News | US News — Hmm, I wonder if there will be any tension in the De Bruyn household.

The argument began Wednesday morning when his 7-month-old son tried to reach behind the family’s entertainment system to grab the electrical wires, de Bruyn told The Columbian newspaper of Vancouver.

Fearing the boy would shock himself, he told the boy “no” a couple of times and gave the child a swat on his diapered bottom.

De Bruyn said his grandmother-in-law, Rosemary Garlock, told him that was child abuse and threatened to have the child taken away. He said he then told Garlock to leave and she refused.

After an argument that lasted several minutes, he pulled out his Taser stun gun and told her he would use it on her if she didn’t leave within 60 seconds. He counted down, and when she didn’t leave, he shocked her on her right shoulder as she sat on the living room couch.

Is it Taser day or something?

  2. gamabunta says:

Am I the only one who sees nothing wrong with what he did if that’s exactly how it played out? He shouldn’t have been reprimanded considering it was his house and he told her to leave, even giving her time to leave.

Once you have been told to leave and refuse, aren’t you considered an intruder?

Been a few times I have been tempted to Tazer my Mother -in-Law
    😉

  4. Clark says:

Why didn’t they guy just move the child away from the entertainment center? 7 month olds aren’t exactly mobile. Plus, research has shown that corporal punishment is ineffective for children that young.

    You are NOT alone.

The old bag should have been charged with tresspassing.

If his grandmother-in-law is this ornery, I can just imagine his mother-in-law. And I’m sure the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree with his lovely wife either. No wonder this guy needs a taser in his own home.

  7. Arrius says:

I bet the old lady learned a lot about her Greatgrand son-in-law that day, namely he means what he says and he will enforce his word if pushed into it through stuborn people’s actions. If its his house and he told her to leave I think this story rocks.

  8. paul says:

i love this story. “get the hell out!”

  9. Pete says:

He could be in more trouble. Tasers are illegal in Canada.

  10. Joe says:

bet she’ll listen next time he says to get out!

He’s done what every man wishs he could do to his family in laws

  11. TJGeezer says:

Someone should give the grandmother a taser too, just to level the playing field. And hell, let’s not forget the wife and the kid. Give ’em all tasers and see who’s left standing.

Place wasn’t baby-proofed very well. One baby’s playing with the electric wires and the other’s playing with a taser. Sheesh.

  12. John Farris says:

2 & 5: There is something called ‘excessive force’, it is true that she should of left but he should of called the police to escort her off the property instead of using such force.

As for the child, well that IS a case for abuse.

    #13, you don’t have a mother-in-law do you?

#14, Angel, Christ man, this is twice today you really made me laugh.

  15. noname says:

    Is this guy a cop?

I have to ask, given the spate of unnecessary use of deadly force by the police here lately.

  16. andy bird says:

serves her right – cant see the problem myself

  17. John Farris says:

    15. I did indeed have a mother-in-law until she passed away from pancreatic cancer 4 years ago. I never had a problem with her, she was as full of crap as anyone and so not especially a thorn in my side.

    18. The woman in this news item is a “grandmother-in-law” and is probably about 63 or so and using such a device as a taser could be fatal or at least do more lasting harm.

If this guy is that ineffective that he has to use this type of force on a non-violent near senior then he has at least anger issues.
