Oprah is out plugging the Surface for Microsoft, stating that she is buying several of the devices as gifts.
However, in sending out that specific tweet, she, or whoever was running her account that day, used a somewhat embarrassing service to communicate.
Yes, this is amateur hour…
Surface ads, now brought to you by iPad.
Har!
Translation…
MS Gave me a truckload of Surface Tablets and I need to get rid of them.
NO! NO! NO!!!
Microsoft didn’t give her a trunk load of devices. They simply paid her to promote something that she has no idea what it even IS! (What else is new?)
I don’t think too many people would argue the fact that Oprah is just another spokesperson PIMP! Just give her enough MONEY and she might actually consider promoting Mein Kampf (Adolph Hitler’s best seller)! I seem to recall her going off about TiVo and once even said that she would never use anything other than an iPad.
So just why this is even surprising does seem a little out of whack.
Makes you wonder now about the books she promotes. Does she actually read them or are the authors fawning over her to appear as guests?
Harpo?
It’s racist AND sexist to criticize Oprah in any way.
This hate-speech story has been reported to the authorities.
Are recreational drugs on Oprah’s list?
So she used an IPad, big deal. Microsoft is doing a good job of marketing the Surface, and will be challenging IPad for supremacy.
Oh, oh. MikeN likes the Surface. That’s really bad news for Microsoft.
Should someone let Steve know?
No, I don’t like the Surface. I just agree with the owner of this blog that Microsoft is doing a good job in marketing this.
I’m just going by your track record on predictions. You said a Romney landslide. And the Jets would beat the spread.
Bwahahahaha!!!
Unless and until enterprises come up with compelling business cases for letting employees wander around (when they could/should/would be at their desks doing their wage slave menial jobs under the watchful eyes of their supervisors,) they aren’t going to sell any of these things.
People don’t buy an OS, OEMs do.
People actually buy a device that appeals to their sense of aesthetics.
Apple is making devices that appeal to the aesthetics of some, I won’t even say many, 99%ers and pretty much all 1%ers and the 12,400 oligarchs.
Until Microsoft got OEMs to design and produce devices that would appeal to people in the consumer marketplace, they were dead in the water. They knew their OEMs and they knew that they weren’t going to be able to do it.
Microsoft went to Apple, got Ives to create the Metro interface for them, and licensed it.
Microsofts’ accountants immediately fucked themselves by not even put up a token resistance when the name Metro was challenged (you know that Apple put up a shit load of resistance in time and lawyers’ fees for the iPad name in China,) and insisted that the device be compatible with previous enterprise products.
I’m not expecting for or from anything branded Windows whatever.
X-Box is another ecosystem and I suspect that we’ll see them having some success from that direction.
All MS has to do is produce an inexpensive Xbox TV device, negotiate some decent licensing agreements, and they’d wipe out Apple and Google’s wet dreams in the TV market.
That’s completely within their swing zone. I have no idea why the haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
Because they haven’t rolled out enough Microsoft stores yet.
That makes absolutely no sense.
Bill Cosby would be better.
Hmmm. Bill hawked TI99s back in the day. Now I enjoyed mine, but I don’t think anyone else would draw favorable comparisons. Maybe they should get The SHAT to hawk them.
Maybe she hasn’t figured out how to tweet from the Surface.
Oprah has only has only scratched the Surface… She needs to dig a little deeper to find out she using an iPad.
Any serious and interesting news also? Even worse then lame stream media level. *Yawwwn*
The Surface is great for snorting cocaine.
