Here is the pre-meeting before the taping of last weeks Cranky Geeks (linked here). I did this to show that we do not actually get to as many topics as we’d like. But you’ll also notice the producer, Annaliza Savage, who hates to be filmed, give me a look and do a subtle “you jerk” take when she realizes (at the beginning) what I’m up to. It’s quite humorous. Luckily she continued on and added some good behind-the-scenes dimensions for fans of the show. It’s also a good rundown of last weeks news (in a nutshell).

I that a Diggnation t-shirt that Annaliza Savage is wearing?
Cool behind the scene look.
Your head crank looks like he is off in la la land for the first minute.
😉
Crap, I thought you said you were going to talk about Sylvia Plath during this segment … oh well.
Was Sebastian having a hayfever attack?
Roger…cripes.
John – good to see you’re reading the comments! When will we see your Super Bowl ad review?
In reference to a comment JCD made on the video, I care about the Verizon passing on the iPhone story. Verizon supposedly has the best network, but they continually keep themselves one step behind on cell phone technology. Why? What’s the benefit for them?
You can make two minutes out of that John, I know you can!
No Annaliza, Paris really is that dumb.
#10 – I’ll bypass flaming you and just say “Not quite.” In fact, any company on the planet would love to have such a loyal consumer base.
While the real reason why, Verizon’s unwillingness to accept Apple’s rules, is rather dull, the impact on both Cingular and Verizon, as well as cell service nation- and worldwide, is an interesting subject for the non-Mac crowd to discuss.
#5 – Sure looked like it to me…poor guy had itchy eye. Get that man some Visine or something!
#9 – Agreed.
Didn’t hear what Roger said…probably just as well. *grin*
Maybe I’ll attack the miserable Super Bowl ads on the next show..I have ideas.
No comments in regards to Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht appearing on the go daddy ad? You can barely see them.
I wonder if Alex would be willing to go to cranky geeks, maybe bring some beers…
cranky geeks + beer = mellow geeks?
Maybe wine since its John’s show.
I just watched Cranky Geeks – Episode 49 and thought it was great even though on my little lap top I have to watch the commercials. This episode is great. I hope that some day the technology will make it full screen without costing me a new computer, a new TV or switching back to a commodore 64.
#11 – That makes sense – and I agree, it’s an interesting story, if only because there is so much shifting and consolidation and technological change all going on at once in what used to be called telecom. I wonder if there’s a good analysis somewhere of the Verizon decision and its implications.
