Squiggly dots are nice post-modern art, but what else is it supposed to do?

  2. noname says:

Who needs elections when you have polls?

    • bobbo, one Real Liberal making Obama a Moderate Conservative by comparison says:

Ummmmm – the polls mean nothing. Its the election that counts?

How do such simple things get turned backwards?

    • gildersleeve says:

Polls are money, going to somebody’s pocket. Meaningful to the campaigns, the parties, the news organizations and the pollsters. They mean nothing to us ordinary Joes and Janes, except that we eat this stuff up. Political potato chips; tasty, fun to eat, and absolutely no good for your health.

  3. Whatever says:

This poll isn’t particularly relevant since it doesn’t measure opinions in the same way we vote.

This one uses state-by-state polls, which matches up with the electoral college. Much more useful, IMO.

    • Whatever says:

My apologies…I didn’t see the link to the electoral college poll.

  4. Captain Obvious says:

Obviously the winner will be 2 more years of gridlock.

And Obama will win. Guessed 60+ ECVs two weeks ago and don’t see any reason to change. Um, yee ha.

  5. jbenson2 says:

These are the polls that magically think 8% more democrats will turn up and vote this year, than 4 years ago?

Yeah, the dumbocrats are really excited and can’t wait to vote again for their Messiah.

    • Captain Obvious says:

Obama was completely beatable. The Republicans are going to have quit blaming the electorate for losing.

      • gildersleeve says:

Agreed – all McCain had to do was pick a better veep.

      • Bob says:

Disagree. McCain could have picked jesus himself and McCain would have lost. Remember, allot of people voted for Obama on race alone, on top of that Bush wasn’t all that popular at the time, and people saw McCain as Bush 2.0.

Sorry McCain was toast from day one. Republicans had gotten sick of big government Rhino’s, and just weren’t going to show up (as seen by the election congressional elections of 2006).

Things are a little different this time. Republicans are going to show up at the poles this time. No doubt about that. By and large they’ve seen what an Obama rule looks like, and aren’t going to sit idle this time.

The dems by the same token see the republicans as taking away their entitlements. Free money is a big motivator.

This election is going to be a fight between the producers and the takers. If Obama wins, the takers have control of the country, and were screwed. If Romney wins, the producers have a chance (a small one grant you) of saving the country before we drown in debt and go the way of every other out of control government in history.

  6. Dallas says:

    Fo Mo Years!
This is exciting as it gets down to the wire. Will the Sheeple rehire the steady hand negro? …Or bring in the lying, tax evading cult leader?

  7. moss says:

Hilarious. I checked the NM Senate Race and up pops Heinrich and Wilson in a draw.

Wilson is so far behind that the Republican Party’s Senate Campaign withdrew funding from her weeks ago.

Checked CT numbers showing Murphy 6-9 points ahead of the Wrestling Pimpette. I only wish.

Untruth in advertising for something called “Polltracker”.

    • Ah_Yea says:

One thing I want to see if after the election, to go back over today’s polls and see who was in the tank for which party.

In other words, which polls got it right and which got it dramatically wrong and for whom.

      • bobbo, one Real Liberal making Obama a Moderate Conservative by comparison says:

Yeah, I can tell you are on top of this: going to a Political Analyst for your polling information.

You can’t get more stupid than this===whether Barone proves out to be right or wrong.

Go to “anyone” who actually is a polling analyst. There have been several on any channel but Fox. They are all stating that Obama will win.

The Car Guy Drove into a ditch he could have easily avoided and then he gunned his engine.

Stupid Hoomans.====Ah Yea, Alfie, etc==>I only wish you would learn from your repetitive mistakes: from where you source your information. You don’t go to a political analyst for anything but a hand job.

    • Captain Obvious says:

I think that Florida and NC are going Romney. Florida will be tighter than people think.

I have a hard time believing Colorado and Virginia will go Romney, but OK.

Ohio, Iowa, NH, and Wisconsin going Romney is scifi.

Pennsylvania magically swinging to Romney with last minute TV buys is unicorns and fairies.

  9. bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

I certainly have my preference in who I think SHOULD win, OUGHT to win, would make the better President etc…. and we can all have our own opinions, desires, and druthers….

…… BUT…. to predict who WILL win is a matter of scientific estimation that no one posting here personally engages in. All we can do is turn to the predictions of those engaged in such scientific inquires.

…… you know…. like Global Warming.

Polls are all over the map with bias and even down right corruption/paid for opinions. THAT is why your source for who WILL win the election has to be an expert on polls with an established track record. That guy (Silver?) who got 95% of the Congressional Districts correct and all but one State correct back in 2008 says it is Obama.

My expert beats whatever wishful thinking you have on your own or cherry picked from the bobble heads.

    Ain’t reality a Bitch?

    • MikeN says:

      >…… BUT…. to predict who WILL win is a matter of scientific estimation that no one posting here personally engages in. All we can do is turn to the predictions of those engaged in such scientific inquires.
      >
      >…… you know…. like Global Warming.

Who knew that a Romney victory would disprove global warming?

      • MikeN says:

Though to be fair, climate scientists don’t engage in prediction. They just pretend to so as to scare people. For example Michael Mann deliberately titling his book Dire Predictions. He explains that a more accurate title wouldn’t help to scare people.

        • bobbo, the pragmatic existential evangelical anti-theist says:

“Who knew that a Romney victory would disprove global warming?” /// Ha, ha. Well said.

My only comeback would be that climate studies are highly variable but based on something more predictable: physics: whereas polling is highly variable and based on something less predictable: people.

But, a pleasure to read nonetheless.

          • MikeN says:

Well I evaluate the claims of the poll analysts’ critics, and find some validity to their claims. I also evaluate the claims of global warming skeptics and find they are right and scientists are wrong. So if Obama wins, perhaps I SHOULD reevaluate my belief in skeptics over scientists. Based on my analysis of claims, I conclude the climate scientists as well as the poll analysts like Nate Silver, are using science to push a political cause, and bending the science towards that end.

    • Whatever says:

My link up at the top, wherever that might be at 9:13 eastern central blog savings time, is to Nate Silver’s extraordinary polling math. 85% chance Obama wins, only 15% chance for Romney.

  10. Alfie says:

    What a senseless spectacle.

    Two clowns:
    – The slick-talker O’Bankster, who wants to let criminal 1%ers go Scot free.
    – The Iran-hater Mitt Rommel, who thinks we can afford another desert war.

    • Captain Obvious says:

That was good. I have now have this mental image of Erwin Romney, desert tank commander.

  11. noname says:

  12. Ben Clark says:

I have been loyal to the Republican party for all 28 years that I have been a registered voter. The first time I ever voted was for Ronald Reagan in 1984. Casting that ballot was one of the best moments of my life, and I will surely never forget that day and that wonderful feeling as long as I live.

But I am sorry to say that I do not have that same feeling with the Republican candidates that we’ve been presented the past several years. I voted for Bush twice, but both times I did it very reluctantly, almost forcing myself to. My gut knew he was not the right person for the job, but my pride told me I had to vote Republican because that is what I have always done. I couldn’t admit to myself George Bush was not best candidate. I couldn’t get past the labels “Republican” and “Democrat.” It was more about “winning” for me than it was about choosing the best person to run my country.

I now see that my gut was right all along, and I will not make that same mistake again. I am voting for Barack Obama in this election, not because of his party affiliation, but because he is the best candidate for the job. I’ve seen this economy pick back up these past four years under the leadership of President Obama, and I am very pleased with the direction our country is headed. The losses my company suffered during the Bush administration nearly pushed us under, but we are now nearly back to where we were in the early 2000s.

The Bush administration not only disappointed me tremendously as a businessman, but also humiliated me as a Republican. He made us look plain stupid. He was not running the country the way a true Republican would, and he just ended up blowing our country’s budget and making our party look foolish. And what really scares me now is that our current Republican nominee seems to be even more naive than George Bush.

Mitt Romney has already embarrassed my party throughout the course of his campaign. The guy is completely out of touch with reality, and I’ve studied his budget plan inside and out and the math just doesn’t add up any way you work it. It’s impossible. He is doomed to throw us right back into another recession and I DO NOT want to give him the chance to go into office and run the economy through a meat grinder.

This man is NOT the same kind of Republican I voted for in 1984. He does not care about the American people. He cares only about himself. He perpetuates the sad stereotype that Republicans are selfish and greedy. A $55,000 elevator for your car!? Give me a break! The man has no character and no judgment whatsoever. He’s a power–hungry puppet that will say and do anything if there’s cash behind it. I don’t trust him as a person and I CERTAINLY do not trust him to run this country.

I miss the days when there were so many great Republican candidates that I had a hard time choosing which of them I wanted to vote for. Now the patch is so bad we have to choose the apple that is the “least rotten, but still pretty damn rotten.”

I will not vote for Mitt Romney just because he has the party affiliation of Republican. He is not a true Republican, as evidenced by his governorship of Massachusetts. And by the way, Massachusetts isn’t even voting for him! BECAUSE THEY HAD HIM AND THEY KNOW BETTER NOW.

I’m asking you to think about your values as a Republican and weigh them up against this candidate. A much better option would be the Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, who has stayed true to his political stances from the beginning and has enough character to make decisions based on good judgment, not how much money is behind it.

The election is only a couple of days away. Don’t vote for the candidate who is going to make a fool out of you.

    • Bob says:

Ben I seriously doubt you are conservative or libertarian in any way. If you were, their is no way you could vote for Obama and live with yourself. Since he stands pretty much in direct opposition of everything a libertarian or a conservative would think.

If you are being truthful (which I doubt), then you remind me of the German in 1934 who supported Hitler because “things were getting better”, all the while, the government continued to take over more and more of daily life, and was reformed to take the form of the maniac on top.

For dogs sake can’t we just start the round ups already? The cultists have already provided the list by conveniently “registering” their names as the cult of democrats and cult of republicans. Let’s do the one and only thing that can save the country, round them up and deport them to Antartica!

  16. bobbo, one true Liberal recognizing Obama is a Moderate Conservative by any party not captured by the Wing Nut American Talibans says:

Ben Clark sounding like a Dumbo plant but who should be taken at face value until found out otherwise says: “I now see that my gut was right all along, and I will not make that same mistake again. I am voting for Barack Obama in this election, not because of his party affiliation, but because he is the best candidate for the job.” /// You are still voting the Republican Party of 1980. Thats how far the Pukes and Dumbos have been pulled to the right.

I would NOT have voted for Regan “but” he was a legitimate choice with Carter in opposition. That has not been true arguably since Bush First Term but without argument the second go around.

    Politics = Beware of Labels.

    • jbenson2 says:

      So Bobbo,

      Who are you voting for?

      • bobbo, one true Liberal recognizing Obama is a Moderate Conservative by any party not captured by the Wing Nut American Talibans says:

I”m with Dallas. Living in California, the vote is locked up so why stand in line for 2 hours to vote?

  17. Dallas says:

Well, I voted several times but I’m in Texas and it won’t make a difference 🙁

  18. sargasso_c says:

We’re preparing for a mass influx of your wealthy, young, educated, self made urban professionals with their families and financial assets. I see Canada and Australia, are too. This could be the tipping point.

  19. Captain Obvious says:

I see Romney is embracing bipartisanship in the last days of his campaign. He’s been everything else in this campaign, so why not a Democrat as well.

    • Dallas says:

Rumor has it that he’s outing one of his sons and performing an abortion in his basement.

    • MikeN says:

Are liberals trying to explain away a Romney victory already?

  20. Supreme Ultrahuman (I see the comment system is still designed for retards.) says:

I’ve stopped worrying about the election. It’s really quite simple: If Romney wins, things will continue to suck for quite a while. If Obama wins, the human race will have proven itself unworthy of continued existence, so nothing will matter.

    Simple and stress free.

  21. MikeN says:

Hope yall got your money in on Obama at InTrade. 55% in a week is a good deal. If you haven’t, you probably have an hour left to do a wire transfer.

  22. MikeN says:

So has Greg Palast written the stories of Republican vote fraud yet?

  23. MikeN says:

RealClearPolitics shows Obama with a .3% lead in Virginia. If the polls are so accurate, why isn’t Obama campaigning there?

    • bobbo, one true Liberal recognizing Obama is too far Right says:

The reality and chances of Obama far exceed the ruin that Rmoney has promised.

Kinda a push at the worst don’t ya think?

  24. MikeN says:

Below are various tips from myself or others where noted:

Beware false stories of unprecedented lines at some precincts and desolate lines at other precincts. They may well all be true but voting patterns shift every election and getting too despondent or overjoyed based on random and possibly inaccurate anecdotes will make you crazy. Both sides have quite possibly the strongest ground games in election history so anything is possible on election day. Let it play out.
Ignore the “too close to call” game. If the media doesn’t have enough precincts reporting in a Republican state they will say the race is “too close to call.” If they don’t have enough precincts reporting in a Democrat state they will say the polls just closed so it’s too early to say anything. They do this EVERY election.
I put this on my Facebook page election night 4 years ago and have left it there. It’s as true today as it was then and is a good thing to remember no matter the outcome. “A prophet is the one who, when everyone else
despairs, hopes. And when everyone else hopes, he despairs. You’ll ask me why. It’s because he has mastered the Great Secret: that the Wheel turns.”
