Three-fourths of 949 executives who responded to a survey at the annual conference of the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) this month reported that they believe overall economic conditions will weaken if various tax law provisions expire and mandated government spending cuts go into effect as scheduled in January 2013.
Respondents rated implementing changes to avoid the fiscal cliff as the second-most important issue for federal elected representatives to focus on after the election. The most important issue to respondents was resolving long-term government fiscal and deficit issues, identified by 63% of finance professionals in the survey.

Your summary doesn’t say that, it says that neither party is willing to compromise on its principles. Yet the Republican Platform is what is being called for by this group, cutting deficit, renewing Bush tax cuts, repealing ObamaCare (which they call something else), even eliminating the sequester.

Mitt Romney didn’t get the endorsement of David Walker easily. In fact, earlier this year Walker, the former head of the Government Accountability Office under Presidents Clinton and George W. Bush, was openly flirting with running for president as an independent candidate, sounding a Paul Revere–like alarm about the federal debt. He might even have had significant resources from the likes of New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and financier Pete Peterson.
But Walker now says the dismal fiscal record of the Obama administration — especially his refusal to take seriously the report of the Simpson-Bowles Commission — has compelled him to support Romney.
“I believe that Governor Mitt Romney is the clear choice for president,” Walker wrote in today’s Washington Times. “He has proven leadership ability in all sectors of our economy.” In the spring, Walker had been equally critical of both candidates telling MSNBC that neither man has “a credible plan to restore fiscal sanity.”
Theres was no Bowles-Simpson report. No consensus was reached because Ryan and his cronies would not even discuss revenue. The unofficial report recommended raising taxes *and* cutting spending.
Who cares who is president! Either party in ‘congress’ will thwart any good that either party can come up with. At least we know what to expect with Obama.

Neither side? The only possible solution is to strengthen economy through lessening government load on it. Nothing else can work. One side have actual proposed budgets (with actual cuts in Government spending) and actual proposals to significantly lessen bureaucratic load on economy. Obama continuing: Weimar/Argentina/Zimbabwe II. R/R taking over: Kennedy/Thatcher/Reagan II. Both strategies have historically proven records, those economists just won’t look beyond their own ideology.
And don’t bother with “Bush economy” spin. He was Right Progressive, spending with no end. Cutting all spending and taxation and regulation is the only positive answer. Not cut taxes raise spending of Bush or even “believe that Democrats will cut spending later” bamboozle of Reagan in his second term. Real cuts now.

Depends. Nobody is going to throw a switch and magically make things all better. Obama will, if given the option, finish killing the economy along with the dollar as a medium of exchange. That will pretty much finish us off as a super power as well. What’s the worst that can happen besides us having to turn over Hawaii to them to pay down our debt? I’ve never been there so I won’t miss the place. I can grow a garden so I hope to be able to eat at least as long as I can work it. Those that can’t are the ones that will starve.
