Now that Obama has been cracking down on legal medical marijuana in states like Colorado, it makes me wonder if in a close race it will cause Obama to lose. The government claiming that pot should be a schedule 1 drug is as ridiculous as claiming that rape doesn’t cause pregnancy.

  1. NewformatSux says:

So he’s shut down half the dispensaries in California. Still, people know Obama vs Romney, that Obama said he would respect states rights on the issue, and that he was part of a choom gang in high school. The actual people affected by the shut down facilities will be small compared to the users. This is a net plus for Obama.

  2. Dallas says:

…wonder if in a close race it will cause Obama to lose.
No. I don’t think so. Neither do you.

…is as ridiculous as claiming that rape doesn’t cause pregnancy.
No. It’s not as rediculous. Nothing is more rediculous.

  3. McCullough says:

One of many things that will hurt him in Colorado. Obama has a record he cannot run away from, his whole campaign strategy is “the Republicans are worse”. Even if that is true, it’s doesn’t solve anything.

And idiots and racists will still vote for him. The other idiots and racists will vote for Romney.

    • The Monster's Lawyer says:

Typical Puke tactic: Whatever you are accused of being call your opponent the same.
      * Call the them whining liberals when you are ranting nutjob.
      * Accuse them of being Nazis when they don’t share the same narrow view as you.
      * Call them racist because you don’t like the color of the president’s skin.
      * Accuse them of being heartless atheists as you deride the poor and less fortunate.
      * Say the main stream media has liberal bias while on anchoring on Fox News.
      * Say democrats are rigging elections while manipulating voter laws and districts to inhibit opposition.

      • DumDeDeDumDum says:

The Nazi’s were FACISTS! Got it STUPID?!

        😉

        • dave says:

um no, the nazi’s were nationalist. The italians were facists. You need to look into those definitions again.

  5. shooff says:

Any changes to drug policy that President Obama makes will be in the political “lame duck” second term.

The one state that could really use MJ reform and capitalize on it is Nevada. How many European travelers (from any nation) make a “pit stop” in the Netherlands just to have a smoke?

Nevada is facing billions in debt. Legalizing it would allow awesome tax consequences (free money from non-Nevada residents) Strip Casinos sell Miller Lite for $8-10 per beer. Imagine what they would charge for a joint.

    • TheMAXX says:

yep! Some would grow it themselves but how many people grow other, easier things instead of buying them at a store?

  6. Mextli: ABO says:

I find it hard to believe that anyone decides who to vote for, especially in a presidential election, based on their marijuana policies.

I think marijuana is a schedule 1 drug although it’s hard to imagine smoking crude plant material could harm anyone.

    • TheMAXX says:

Smoking is not the traditional use of cannabis. But for argument’s sake: cannabis smokers are 60% less likely to develop lung cancer compared to non-smokers. That is how powerful its anti-cancer properties are. Even with the increased damage to lung cells from hot particles and tar you would still be safer than people who don’t smoke anything at all.

  7. spsffan says:

While it might hurt Obama, it won’t help Romney, as he being 1. Republican and 2. Mormon, is clearly more pro drug war than Obama.

Gary Johnson and whoever the Greens and Peace and Freedom fringies nominate might pick up a few votes.

Actually, Obama cracking down on pot might pick him up a few votes from the “nanny state” folks.

    • Dallas says:

Agree. This whole topic is bullshit. Nobody is voting for the candidate who’s against it less.

      • TheMAXX says:

Why not? Drug prohibition is one of the biggest problems our world is facing right now. The USA looses trillions of dollars every year due to such a crazy policy.

  8. denacron says:

Mittens and O’bombya both have the same intolerance about the “issue”. The Dronenator sold a lie to stoners for their naive support. Most ‘D’ tards will still vote for him even though the ‘R’ tards guy finds caffeine an intolerable drug with or without wearing magic skivvies.

  9. observer says:

Gary Johnson gets my vote this year. I voted for Obama in 2008 but the Obama I voted for disappeared.

    • Bob73 says:

Voting for any third party = not voting

      • Somebody says:

        Don’t be stupid. They notice.

And you might want to vote w/o getting blood on your hands.

        I said you might.

        • ECA says:

Any 3rd party, will be STOMPED ON..
They have already done it many times in the past.
AS WELL as a 3ed party TRYING to get things done with a 2 party system in the house and Congress, will NEVER happen.

The ONLY way to clean up what is going on, is to FIRE THEM ALL, and start over..
          And I mean,
To go back over the laws from the last 100+ years and CLEAN THEM UP…Erase the favoritism and shuffling of the money. The corp empirism started around 1890..and got worse in the 1920’s..and even WORSE during WWII..

          • Somebody says:

Yes, well how do you fire both the R’s and the D’s w/o a third party?

      • TheMAXX says:

Saying shit like that is dumb and should be a treasonous offense.

Only if you believe and spout that shit does it come true!

You don’t think any 3rd party nominee can get 16-17% of the eligible voters behind them. Ron Paul has gotten higher numbers than that in polls.

  10. Lowhangingfruit says:

Watchdogs warned about this several years ago and now here in Colo. it’s being implemented.
    http://reason.com/archives/2011/12/16/get-a-medical-marijuana-card-lose-your-s

    • TheMAXX says:

This means no-one is allowed to carry guns since we all produce and use DMT in our bodies and DMT is a schedule 1 substance.

  11. scandihoovian says:

Just more reason to vote for Gary Johnson. Both of these mainstream parties have been monumental failures in both policy and practice. Voting for either them in this election should come with a free bottle of Thorazine.

    • Bob73 says:

Voting for any third party in a two-party system is the same as voting for “none of the above”. In other words the same as not voting at all.

      • TheMAXX says:

This is only true if you choose it to be true! If you and everyone who spouts that shit would vote for whom they want to be president then we would already have had a third party president. 60% of eligible voters vote. 30% decides the winner and only half of that 30% wanted that person as a president. So you are saying that even though many third party candidates have polled higher than the needed 16% they couldn’t win because???

The only reason would be people like you spouting shit and believing said shit.

Why would you want to perpetuate such a treasonous and dangerous self-fulfilling prophecy?

  12. AdmFubar says:

all these states are in major debt and they keep giving takes breaks to businesses… how the hell are you to run city/state/county when you discount the tax base? and for that matter are these tax break scofflaws getting full city/state/county services?? if so why? they certainly are not paying for them….

    • B. Dog says:

Oh, I dunno about everywhere, but a little startup in my city asked for a little help and permission to buy some land to expand. The city council turned them down, and they had to move to the town south of here. Now they have 5,000 employees and are expected to hire 1,000 more this year. Their product seems to sell itself, since they only have 5 salespeople. The mayor of the town that got the company says it’s nice to have 10 times the tax base now.

  13. Supreme Ultrahuman (I see the comment system is still designed for retards.) says:

Yes, pot should be legal, but it’s a minor issue.

There are Americans who are horrible disadvantaged because they can’t live in a big house and drive a 4×4 fueled by cheap domestic gas. Fix that first.

Execute all “urban planners” and supporters of mass transit then move forward from there. It’s our duty as Americans to improve the human condition by example.

  14. NewformatSux says:

So what is the official reason for Obama’s shutting down the medicinal marijuana dispensaries? Is he a superenforcer after having used? Is he OK with the marijuana but not the medicine? Is it all a conflict with Obamacare?

    • TheMAXX says:

He didn’t shut down any dispensaries as far as I know. He wrote a memo asking feds to not go after medical marijuana. Feds claim they are closing up cases that were begun before they got that memo. They may both be to blame but I don’t really know what happens behind the scenes so I cannot say for sure.

      • NewformatSux says:

Then you need to know some more. Yeah he said he wouldn’t go after anyone, but it has happened. So why the difference?

  15. pete says:

what all the americans either forget, or big brother forgot to teach them, is that the only reason “hemp” was made illegal is because all the money men had invested in man made materials and wanted some way to get rid of the millions of acres of hemp being grown across the USA, if you actually research your own history, a majority of your founding fathers made their money growing an “illegal” drug.

    • ECA says:

      You are mostly correct..
Look at the time frame of when it was made illegal..
      LONG after other drugs.
Drugs that were KNOWN to be REAL menaces.

Hemp is another restricted market in the USA..but it couldnt be MADE that way, it was to easy to grow.
At the time, it was war time, there was a problem out fitting all the men, with cottons and wools..(understand, that the wars started around 1890 until After WWII) we were supplying Cloth to other nations.
And its a FUNNY fact that when we SELL over seas and tot he GOV. prices on the market go UP for everyone else..DUPONT?? i think was the first.

  16. t0llyb0ng says:

Weed is a Schedule I “narcotic.”

That’s what they be callin’ it.

When that changes, maybe we can begin to move forward.

  17. deowll says:

I don’t understand Obama on the topic of weed. He makes it clear that his dealer was pretty much his favorite person during high school. He’s never expressed any regret over that behavior. He threatens to do something about the ~legal stuff but he isn’t putting any energy into it and his policy is pretty much to have an open border.

Fence setting for political rather than ideological reasons? I mean he’s pretty much turned off ice even if the person is a criminal but he’s been keeping the numbers up by claiming ice deported the people caught by the border patrol but he’s turning them off too.

I’d say he has a disaster waiting to happen in play but even if some illegal does a mass killing I have doubts the lame media would report it as more than a one liner.

The day after the election is over it wouldn’t shock me if he declared weed legal or started running mass raid. If he kicked every illegal he could find out or declared them to be citizens by imperial decree.

    • NewformatSux says:

It’s not the marijuana, it’s the medical part. It is interfering with ObamaCare.

  18. ECA says:

Isnt there a study about HOW well people do when they are MORE relaxed, and can concentrate better and THINK more clearly?? Just as your best time to think, is As you are going to bed?
There are 2 ways to think better…and they are BOTH considered Augmentation and illegal or ALMOST illegal..

    1. is to use drugs to speed up thinking, which makes things SEEM to slow down..like drugs for ADHD..
    2. is relaxants.. which make your surrounding more comfortable and you can Think and understand more clearly.. Look mostly into the environments IN SCHOOLS..those chairs were designed to be sat in.. They are coming out with new designs(which WONT be use, that relax the back insted of HOLDING US into an upright position).

  19. NewformatSux says:

Looks like I was wrong, this is not related to ObamaCare.
The latest actions I could find were Oct 2011, so it is not a continuation of previous cases.
Instead, we have a desire to proclaim the federal government supreme. Also, it is an opportunity to increase tax revenue. Marijuana dispensaries are not allowed to claim any business expense deductions. So they are paying taxes on their sales, rather than their profits.
Also, it is an opportunity for the federal government to seize land.

  20. hmeyers says:

Romney wins Wisconsin, Ohio + Florida = game over.

    Colorado really doesn’t matter electorally.

If Obama were to legalize marijuana, he would have done it in May. Like May 2009. Like he should have done, but didn’t and instead decided to endorse the “status quo”.

    • NewformatSux says:

You also need Virginia, North Carolina, and Arizona in that mix.

Colorado with New Hampshire would mean Romney could lose Ohio.

    • Thomas says:

      from the article:

“Obama gave some encouragement to marijuana policy reformers during his campaign in 2008, when he suggested he wouldn’t be “using Justice Department resources to try to circumvent state laws [on medical marijuana].”

Yeah I guess that does settle it, Obama is a shameless liar, and you sir, are an idiot.
