Fun to spin that in several different directions all highlighting the failure in America to have the Government be responsive to the needs/desires of the general citizenry.

Russia under Putin, or America under Corporate Rule?

How much difference is there….. reallly?

If you are just an average Joe (or Ivan), I wouldn’t try it in Russia either.

      I agree: not much difference.

  3. Joe says:

The cops probably recognized them as members of the local mafia.

Now that’s what you call a public servant.

    Properly trained.

  5. If he did that here in the U.S. he’d have drugs “found” on him and end up in PMITA prison.

  6. AdmFubar says:

cops prolly thought he was from putin’s secret police

the kgb is dead, long live the kgb..

Why the “Don’t Try This at Home” thing?

Home of the brave, land of the free, the police is here to “serve and protect”, lots of constitutional rights other countries only dream of.

This is the perfect case of “Do try this at home”

Its a good thing US citizens are so insular and untraveled. Otherwise, we might have an idea how the cops have cowed and bullied the citizens into ignoring their freewheeling lawlessness, and then even support more of the same crap!

On a recent trip to China, I witnessed a couple of our taxi drivers blow their horns at police vehicles who wouldn’t get out of the way, and then proceed to pass. In another instance, our private bus driver blasted his horn at a slow cop on a mountain road and proceeded to pass him on a blind curve. All these things happened with no retribution.

My experience back here in the USA is that a single trooper driving on an interstate is enough to back traffic up for miles behind him. Everyone is just so damn scared of getting a ticket, and the cops are only too glad to oblige.

While I don’t recommend the Chinese way of driving, it indicated to me that not everyone in the world takes shit from cops as we do, or at least they just don’t give a flying flip about traffic laws.

    • Sea Lawyer says:

It is beyond silly when you see a cop stopped on the side of the road, having pulled somebody over, and traffic slows down as if the guy is going to notice another speeder and jump in his car to pursue.

      • ± says:

Just a warning about two cars stopped on the shoulder and the rear one obviously being a cop car: I saw this once and sped past, but it was a trap since the second (front) car was a cop car waiting for someone to do what I did. I got a ticket.
