Osama bin Laden was in routine contact with several senior figures from Pakistan’s military intelligence agency while in hiding in the country, according to a large cache of secret intelligence files.

The disclosure was contained in e-mails from the private US security firm, Stratfor, which were published by WikiLeaks website on Monday after being obtained by the Anonymous hacking group.

Stratfor provides analysis of world affairs to major corporations, military officials and government agencies and was once likened by an American business magazine to a “shadow CIA”.

According to one of the e-mails, the firm was shown the information papers collected from bin Laden’s Abbotabad compound after the US special forces attack last May that resulted in his death.

The e-mail, from a Stratfor analyst, suggested that up to 12 officials in Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency knew of the al-Qaeda leader’s safe house.

The internal email did not name the Pakistani officials involved but said the US could use the information as a bargaining chip in post raid negotiations with Islamabad.

American officials have always believed it was impossible for the ISI not to have known that Bin Laden was sheltering in a garrison town so close to Islamabad. Pakistan has repeatedly dismissed the charge.

See any plausable deniability?

There has NEVER been a secret about this. Its what makes our relationship with Pakistand: “complicated.”

YOU KNOW compllicated? Its when you don’t want to deal with reality.

    • msbpodcast says:

You know bobbo I, and I suspect most mammalian life forms, have no idea what the words we think with words, and flower with ideas mean.

So please explain the meaning of flower with ideas

  2. NobodySpecial says:

It’s a complicated geo-politcal question with many points to consider:

    Supports terrorism – check
Leader has moustache and wears baldy fitted uniform – check
    Mostly muslim country – check
Important strategic location, make good naval/air base – check
    Actually has WMD – check

However this must be balanced against the fact that it has no economic oil reserves.

    • CrankyGeeksFan says:

Never forget China and India. China doesn’t have a Pakastani border that India recognizes. China and Pakistan cooperate militarily. Chinese concerns are a large investor in a huge Pakistani port on the Arabian Sea that borders Iran. A highway is to be expanded that goes from the port through Pakistan to China. It will go through near Abbotabad. An oil pipeline may be included. With more U.S. troops stationed near Australia and Singapore, this route becomes more and more important. No need for oil to travel far from the Persian Gulf or a shorter distance from Africa. Look at a map.

And access to the extensive mineral wealth that Afghanistan and Pakistan have will be provided by this highway. A major Chinese concern is involved with both.

What surprises me is why it took so long to get the official word and evidence out in public. This is not exactly news to nearly every American. It’s just official confirmation of what we all knew all along.

But what’s troubling is why now? Quite frankly, it sounds like more saber rattling to invade Pakistan for when we go to Iran!

    (It is 2012, you know…)

    • Animby says:

RTFA Anon. This was “leaked” by Wikileaks. Why must there always be a conspiracy and an ulterior motive?

Personally, I think we ought to go in, take out their nukes (I’m SURE we know where they are) and then withdraw all foreign aid. Within a year, they’ll be a suburb of Afghanistan.* Lord knows, without our support they don’t have the economic base to replace their nukes.

*I doubt even China would want them….

      • Dallas says:

‘Take out their nukes’ ? Gee how efficient and simple! Then what? Celebration in the streets and unlimited supply of hummus for everyone!

How about we let sanctions take their toll before they build a nuke and then some more after they build their nukes!
Wtf are they gonna do with them? I know what- the same thing Pakistan, India, China, Russia, and who ever else has one – nothing

      • Dallas says:

This just in – North Korea suspends nuclear program.

Obama the peacemaker! .. that’s for you!

      • billitch says:

Actually I believe Wikileaks deserves no more trust than any other source.

As long as there is an editor, documents are filtered and altered. Possibly in a very twisted way. WL is no exception.

Hell, they could be CIA and I would not care less about what they “leak”…

Also strictly speaking, wikileaks does not leak anything but relays documents leaked by corporations or governments with the efforts of whistleblowers. Often the documents were also leaked somewhere else but WL will never talk about other sources.

  4. Dallas says:

It’s a complicated relationship with nearly all foreign powers and allies – China, Russia, Israel, Saudi Arabia,..on and on. This is nothing new.

The key thing is Pres Obama knows the complicated nature of foreign policy to maintain peace, trade and security of our interests.

The hairball, hair trigger nature of the conservative loons in our government is the biggest danger we have as a nature.

  5. Mac Guy says:

    Uhhh… you THINK?!

  6. Animby says:

Dallas says:”Pres Obama knows the complicated nature of foreign policy…” and is willing to make any apologies necessary. Give it a break, Dal. Admit O’Bama is in over his head. He can’t control his own party let alone manage a nation in crisis. And I’m not coming at this as a conservative. I certainly don’t see any great brainiacs on the GOP side, either.

BTW, did you see where O’B asked all African-Americans to vote for him? When did that not become racist? What if Newt asked all whites to vote for him?

    • Dallas says:

I would agree things are tough but I honestly would rather see a recovery take place than to have a hair trigger nuttjob on the GOP side. Have you heard these GOP loons? Wow.

As far as asking blacks vote for him, I have not heard it but I see that as a given. It’s a demographic. No different than Santorum telling sheepl that God picked him to run and all the God worshipers should vote for him and end up in a lake of fire.

I agree asking ‘bruthas’ to vote for him is over the top but I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that is what he said.

      • The Fence says:

Santorum is completely crazy. Ron Paul has never been a hair trigger. And yes, Obama’s statement is racist. He did say it.

Your recovery is an liberal illusion.

        • Cursor_ says:

Both Santorum and Paul are playing their audiences like trained performers.

          So did Obama.

And anyone that falls for it is just a poorly educated pleb.

          Cursor_

        • Dallas says:

I agree Ron Paul is the most rational and not a hair trigger. An Obama/Ron Paul ticket would be nice.

Santorum is a Christian Taliban. He may was well wear a pope hat, white skirt and red shoes. Mitt is an out of touch with the public, rich business speculator.

The Teapublican lunatic fringe sheeple voted away the only smart guy – Huntsman! It’s unbelievable Teapublicans first have to appease the lunatic fringe and THEN go after the mainstream.

    • smartalix says:

      Animby,

Last I checked Obama was busy cleaning up the messes of his predecessors. Bin Laden and Ghaddafi are both dead, as are scores of top terrorists in a drone-bombing campaign that is so ironically hawkish as to make the Right look like wussies, and the GOP is trying to get traction with “he bowed to a Muslim” crap.

      • The Fence says:

Ghadaffi was replaced by Al Qaeda. , Obama is a traitor to the Constitution, and Bill of Rights and black people are worse off for it.

You are an idiot. And you don’t even realize it.

        • Cursor_ says:

The Constitution was flawed in the first place.

Anyone that supports it supports a house with a roof that was secured with thumb tacks and spit.

The flaws in it allow people to exploit it. So they are following the game book. It is the game book is bad for the citizens.

          Cursor_

          • The Fence says:

huh? A roof that was secured with thumb tacks?

Wow, that’s about the dumbest damned thing I’ve ever read.

Dallas says:”Pres Obama knows the complicated nature of foreign policy…” and is willing to make any apologies necessary. /// Ha, ha. Good one. Its called diplomacy. Leaders don’t go for it. All diplomacy is aimed at the idiot public==on all sides.

Give it a break, Dal. Admit O’Bama is in over his head. /// Gee–I’m standing at a fork in the road with about 15 directions to go. Over his head because he should be doing what?-that he isn’t? Over his head in anyway unique to any head of government in international affairs? Over his head because he has the broadest world vision/experience of any Prenedent since Nixon? Animby: How is the Big O over his head?

He can’t control his own party /// Once again, your evidence for this is what? And along the way, explain what control actually is and if having and exercising it is a net good or bad for what interests?

let alone manage a nation in crisis. /// Yea, verily. By “in crises” you mean not having all three branches “in control” of the Republicans or what? In crises, you do mean not yet having recoverd from the gutting and butchery of the Puke Bush/Cheney cabal?===Well, we agree there.

And I’m not coming at this as a conservative. /// Yes you are. Take a second look and merely read this very post of yours. My, my: “Oh, to see ourselves as others do.” But then, as stated, the conservative can’t deal with reality: its too complicated.

I certainly don’t see any great brainiacs on the GOP side, either. /// True enough but by comparison, and I’m not coming at this as a flaming lib, Big O is a brainiac to the meat puppets arrayed against him.

BTW, did you see where O’B asked all African-Americans to vote for him? /// Yep.

When did that not become racist? /// By definition==those being in the discriminated minority cannot be racists. So, what the Big O is doing is more correctly an example of PANDERING.

What if Newt asked all whites to vote for him? /// He’d still be the fat lying dishonest douchebag he has always been.

“I’m not a conservative?” /// Ha, ha. How do you conclude that Animby? When is the cognitive dissonance going to kick in? ……. and there’s not even anything wrong with being conservative ((like me)) its only when you CONFLATE that with voting Republican that brain inactivity is indicated.

Animby–are you for universal health coverage or not?
    Soc Sec or not?
    Public Health or not?
Regulation of the Banking industry or not?
Invasion of other countries as a first reaction or not?

……and yet you call yourself a ……what? Conservative or a confused Republican?

I guess we can wait for the book?

The problems facing you are bigger than parties. WAKE THE FUCK UP!

The error of your ways is that, despite the evidence of hundreds of years of history, you keep on electing self-selected, self-anointed members of the millionaires club, people who have no understanding of what the lives of the citizens of this country are like.

That fits in with Einstein‘s definition of insanity: “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

“Osama bin Laden was routinely in touch with Pakistan spy agency” – and perhaps the CIA ??? He was on their payroll for a long time, the CIA should let us know when he was “terminated” from his SPOOK STATUS by the CIA Paymasters !!! And perhaps the CIA will tell us if the ISI is still a client !!!

After he was “dead”, the FBI likes to make up stories also:
    http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2011/may/binladen_050211/binladen_050211

They loved to show Saddam Hussain and Muammar el-Qaddafi over and over in the media. But the most wanted terrorist in the world and they just throw him into the ocean? No video, no pictures, no evidence, no nothing!

All this is at least a bit weird, isn’t it?

  16. chris says:

Everybody suspected it, but stratfor claims to know specifics. Of course we knew specifically where Iraq had its WMDs…. so.

This is why I’m leery of democracy for some populations. Anybody who votes for Santorum falls into the same category.
