  1. Sea Lawyer says:

If Adam was bandwidth constrained, why was he the one hosting the stream? isn’t he supposed to know better being the “Podfather” and all?

  2. Adam says:

Skype was the problem with the low bandwidth, not the stream. But thanks for the armchair quarterbacking douchebag.

  3. What? says:

It was a good show. Professional in the face of the issues, “the show must go on” and all that.

What the issues show is that the US doesn’t have the infrastructure it needs.

I live two-three miles from the Pentagon, and my AT&T cell(s) sites are rebooting once an hour or so. Also see weird clock resets a lot.

Why does South Korea (4G) have better infrastructure in urban areas that the US?

  4. Sea Lawyer says:

lol, clearly when you mention halfway through the show that you are cutting the quality of the stream to improve the skype lag, you are trying to send too much data over your 3G connection; regardless of which is the bigger hog. I’m simply surprised you wouldn’t have John able to host the stream from his end as a backup measure when you are under conditions like Sunday.

#3, “Why does South Korea (4G) have better infrastructure in urban areas that the US?”

How many urban areas does South Korea have to build out infrastructure for compared to the United States? Wikipedia says the entire Korean penisula is about the size of Minnesota.

  5. Binkey says:

I don’t get why they’re using Skype when they’re bandwidth constrained — it’s worse then retarded when there are FREE clients like TeamSpeak and Mumble with much better adaptive codec/decodecs that will give clear, real-time, zero latency audio at 1200 baud even under duress of substantial paket loss…

Slap Adam for being such an Apple Pussy….

  6. Meanfest says:

I don’t know. I thought the episode was pretty good, regardless of the little bit of lag.

  7. What? says:

“How many urban areas does South Korea have to build out infrastructure for compared to the United States? Wikipedia says the entire Korean penisula is about the size of Minnesota.”

Have you ever been to the Mid Atlantic and North East? It is wall-to-wall people from Richmond VA through at least half of CT (some patchs of green in Northern MD, DE, Eastern Shore of MD, and Southern NJ).

The build out would seem justified, unless the customers will willingly pay for crappy service.

  8. rasputin says:

333 shows and 99% of them without major issue. Thats a pretty good track record.
I agree with binkey regarding Teamspeak, probably make a good contingency plan when MS shut their stream down and the guys in gasmasks abseil into the crackpot command center.

  9. Sea Lawyer says:

#8, I work at Quantico, VA and I generally have no problem with AT&T’s 3G service. My point is that that they can’t only just put resources to building out one relatively small geographic region and ignore the rest of the country. But I’m sure if all a national cell carrier had to worry about was the northeast corridor, then we could likely boast our service was on par with South Korea’s.

    Organic..
Markets raided because they have MILK that ages.

A nation that grows 10 times what it NEEDS, then spays it so it lasts 6-12 months on the shelf..
EXPORTS 70-80% to nations that dont NEED/WANT that much..

WE poor it into Nations and Over-ride there FARMING systems, undercutting the farmers..Forcing Everyone into the cities for CHEAP FOOD, and 10 years later..wonder why they dont GROW their OWN..

  11. ECA says:

    Comparing HACKING to a natural disaster…IS ASININE…

It has been shown that OUR electrical grid is MANUALLY OPERATED, and has very little automation to IT..
THEN some IDIOT HAS to bring up the SMART grid..WHY??

Umm, EMP?? you have little protection..PERIOD.

THink something strange. WHY not control IN/OUT in this nation as they do with RIAA/MPAA region codes… it only PUSHES the USA into the corp mentality.

WHY is anyone wanting to HACK the net?
Give me a reason, and I will show you WHO they are trying to get INFO FROM..

  12. ECA says:

Major corps need NOT to be on the stock market…THEY MAKE enough money to keep themselves going, why should they be WORRIED about paying off investors??
