Whatever happened to…Bubble Memory?
During it’s hype back in the 1980’s, this form of memory was going to be the next big thing. Intel was the main promoter, but everyone was buying into it until it was actually put on the market. Ack. Read all about it here.

I had a small organizer with bubble memory…
After years of use, I gave it to father…
He used it, and put it aside for 5 years…
Pilled it out, it needed batteries… He got new ones and it STILL WORKS.. Never lost a bit. LOVe that basterd,,, and will probably get it back, AFTER he dies..
I can see how this wasn’t plausible, I mean unless you wanna going to war with your PC, there is no really need for a sturdy memory.
You ask this question right after a story on 100GB HD in under 1.8 inches. Now that’s funny.
My first comment about the Grid Compass, with links, got spanked by the “slow down cowboy” message, and I am too lazy to go get the links again…

But wouldnt it be cool to have a Boot ram to windows, that windows could change as needed. Put the kernals and boot up, in bubble ram.
Talk about a fast Boot, EVEN if you turned the system OFF, it would still be there. and it would allow windows to augment what ever it wanted, As it always does.
Or how about a Bubble ram dedicated to the OS itself. give it 16 megs to play in, and away you go.
And its better then an Eprom as its life is permanant, and its not going to Fry it you have a Storm. Can be transferred to a NEW system also.
