PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The pouf is mightier than the pen when it comes to speaking fees at New Jersey’s largest university. The Rutgers University Programming Association paid Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of the reality TV show “Jersey Shore” $32,000 Thursday to dish on her hairstyle, fist pumps, as well as the GTL – gym, tanning, laundry – lifestyle.
That’s $2,000 more than the $30,000 the university is paying Nobel-winning novelist Toni Morrison to deliver Rutgers’ commencement address in May. Money for Polizzi’s appearance came from the mandatory student activity fee. Freshman Adham Abdel-Raouf told The Star-Ledger of Newark he thought the price was a bargain given Snooki’s popularity. Another freshman, Dan Oliveto, said it was a waste of money.
Snooki’s advice to students: “Study hard, but party harder.”
This seems to be legit….let’s hope not. Tip to parents, if you’re in the process of looking at colleges for your kid, you may want to skip this one.
Snooki was paid $17,500 to attend the Christmas Party of JAWA founder, Jason Hope. Jason Hope, he of the 100,000 sq. ft. mansion in Arizona, was mentioned a few posts ago. (JAWA is the company that seems to be “cramming” text messages on phone bills.)
The time involved at the appearances is probably roughly the same. Why did Rutgers University have to pay almost twice as much, $32,000 vs. $17,500.
She also appeared last year at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport as part of that school’s homecoming.
Her picture suggests she already qualifies as a Teabagger presidential candidate. Stick a broom in her ass and she’s good to go.
I wonder what the Governor thinks. I guess Snooki really does represent NJ.
It’s bad enough that these colleges tailor course requirements, for certain degrees, partly to make sure all the Humanities professors get paid. Because few students would sign up for these classes, if given the choice. So they’re told they need to take them, even for science and engineering degrees. Padding the curriculum, I call it.
But now they got this “activities” crap, to pay for. Because some arrogant and greedy clique, who controls the thing, wants it to pay for their favorite media celebs to visit. I’ll bet the student body didn’t get a say in this. Or if they did, the vote was fixed later.
Moran ha-ha!!! Moron is misspelled. Becareful what you label people.
