    I saw a documentary, not too long ago, they said the world Diamond monopoly (you know who) would only lease industrial grade diamonds to the US, for their machine tools, during the war. But not sell them to the US. So there wouldn’t be a glut of cheap diamonds on the world market, after WW2. Said monopoly, being primarily based in the UK. Whose asses US soldiers were dying to save. But those running the world gem trade, were still only thinking of their “bottom line” profits, after the war. And had all those war diamonds reclaimed from the tools, after it was over. And selling new industrial diamonds at post war inflated prices. Not much of a sacrifice on DeBeers’ part.
