A square yard of prime “space in a case” is up for auction in a London museum and the winning bidder can exhibit whatever they want.
The exhibit must represent the winner’s life in the capital.
“You can give us a case history, a family heirloom, or a found treasure, your grandparents’ wedding photographs,” the Museum of London said in a statement.
“It’s your place and your case.” The winning exhibit will be put on display until February following the 10-day eBay auction.
I shudder to think at what might be on exhibit if this becomes a popular idea — with museums around the world. Can you imagine the display in, say, Tokyo, NYC, Houston — uh, San Francisco?
If I could lease the space, I’d put one of those 500 watt boom boxes on it and play John Zorn, Melt Banana, and Brujeria 24/7.
At least that’s how I got rid of a recent raccoon infestation. I’m guessing it’d work on pretentious art followers too.
dunno – I can think of quite a number of things I wouldnt want to see there – like plasticized haggis…
#2 Or just plain haggis.
