These aggressive tech companies forcing people to upgrade their PC are getting out of hand.
I did it.
Arrest this woman for false reporting. Stupidity.
that dammed microsoft!!
Probably Best Buy. Bet they formatted her hard drive, too.
No leads? no wonder it doesn’t work 🙂
I’m only surprised there is no 911 call to go along with this.
#6, PWUK: Good one!
Happens to me too. Must be organized crime.
Hey– same thing happened to my car about 6 months ago….
I’d talk to Stephen Wright.
He talked of something like this decades ago.
#5-Bet they formatted her hard drive, too.
They did that to mine last month. Those SOBs over-wrote all the data on my hard drive with identical data! Someone has to stop them!
Hasn’t this happened to almost everyone?
The worst part is that now she has an unregistered and unupdateable copy of Windows. WGA FAIL!
Maybe 20 years ago, when hardware was really expensive, a friend of mine would do this. He had a floppy fail, so he pulled it and surreptitiously swapped it with one on a computer at work, then reported it to the tech guys. Did the same with a failed 10Base2 network card and some memory sticks.
Sound like that crazy woman that keeps calling Leo Laporte’s tech guy show…
They always blame the hardware. Never the software, or the OS. Bet that thief really broke in and switched her OS with an identical Microsoft OS that didn’t work.
Poltergeists!
Somebody snuck into our country and swapped out decent, brave, tolerant Americans with these unhinged, terrified, racist Tea Partiers.
One of the reasons I stopped selling on eBay. Too many were returning their dead items and claiming refunds. And good old PayPal provided it. I finally had to visit a few of the deliver to addresses to settle the debts.
BTW,
Why are items blanked-out on a news report that was published publicly in the first place? Written from a police record that is also public?
Doesn’t make sense to me.
#16 Georgie, You are guilty by association if you did not report this to your company. What you described is theft from a company that both of you worked at. He was essentially stealing from you and all your co-workers, not just the company.
I did this at my work place

No leads! of course, because it’s wireless!
