  1. Dallas says:

    Google TV

John – you are getting too old to be a techno blogger.
Perhaps you find the TV spreadsheet (the programming guide) as a great way to find shit but I don’t think so. It’s time to add search into the picture when you have 100’s, 100’s and more of content to watch. I think it will be huge !

Dvorak 2003 : “Who wants to access the internet on a cellphone. Just give me voice”

Time to put you out to pasture.

  2. deowll says:

#1 Use what you want and John and I will use what we want. You want something three by five or less and I like a 30 inch monitor. Be happy. You get what you want and I’ve got what I want.

Once upon a time companies like Google, Apple, and yes Facebook were seen an champions of good against the dark forces of MS, etc. Now the truth is coming out. These companies are out to make a buck and bleep you. Google looks slightly less exploitative or maybe that’s a hair more trustworthy than the others at least to me. They still most likely ought to fire whoever left the code in to collect all the unwanted junk snippets.

  3. Special Ed says:

Actually the iPad has driven the Mac to higher market share:

Also, it seems like not long ago the Vistards were extolling the virtues and Balmer admitted yesterday that it was a turd mistake.

  4. moss says:

This is probably redundant, right? But, I thought I’d drop off the link to Venter’s report:

    Redundant? Har.

  5. Pikachu says:

Google TV has a problem: TV generally sucks. 98% of it is garbage.

Anybody checked out Android Market lately? I looked everything looked like crapware.

  6. Matrix says:

    Froyo = Frozen yogurt

  7. Buzz says:

Has the practice of asking questions that have only “nobody knows” for an answer ruined the blogosphere?

Are there valid connections between Hate Speech and Synthetic Maybe Life?

Is the dubious data Google has been inhaling bad for its health?

When a sun eats a planet, will it burp?

Will Android 3.0 finally get it right?

  8. qb says:

I’d be surprised if the iPad wasn’t outselling the Mac.

I am surprised about Google TV. At this point it’s vaporware and a lot of people have taken a run at TV and failed. After Wave, Buzz, and the Chrome OS (what happened to that) they need a winner.

Android is a winner except that it’s running in the opposite direction to HTML5.

  9. Dallas says:

#8 Why down on GoogleTV? They showed products and availability for the xmas buying season?

Do you think the spreadsheet format you now see on your TV programming guide is good? I don;t see how anyone can find conent on the TV, much less the universe of content on the internet with a spreadsheet. This is the first attempt at applying the well adopted search and categorize to TV.

Sometimes I just don’t the knee jerk reaction to CHANGE. Oh… I know why…

  10. Lou Minatti says:

I’d like to point out that the hype about the iPad killing the iPod is just that… hype. The reason iPod sales are down is because people are waiting for the new version.

  11. the haunted sheep says:

I woudlnt be surprised at all if ipad was outselling mac computers. They have never sold well. Ipod sold well too, but that never translated into mac computer sales. With this trouble with adobe I wouldnt be surprised if there was a day when they didnt sell computers at all. I have worked in advert for 17 years. If we didnt have photoshop we wouldnt be using mac. I think that would be universal. Anyway, I wouldnt mind. The system has gotten really crappy over the last few years anyway.

  12. qb says:

Not down on it, TV is just tougher than people think. I like Google a lot but I don’t think this one will come easily to them. I’ve become skeptical of companies (even Google) announcing things that they can’t demo.

However, if anyone can pull this off it will be Google.
