How can you not compare this lucid appearance with the doltish appearances ow “W” the last few years? The then “clown-in-chief”.
I am filled with hope that we now have we have a President who actually has a brain in gear.
#1 Hey Mr. Ed the talking horse (or is it jackass?),
Clearly those “comedic” lines were written by Jay Leno’s group. HAR!
insane. wtf. this is almost funny if it wasnt so wrong…. coming from the president….
I turned it off as soon as I saw he was on the prompters. It’s all just fake. He’s just repeating the words of other comedians he hired for the occasion. Reagan had the capacity to make jokes spontaneously, on his own.
Erik N – you and Sarah, maybe he should have written on his hand. And scott, I didn’t know Obama was “famous” for his lack of humor. You learn a lot in here.
#-Erik N — Hello Captain Obvious. Will it sadden you more to find out presidents do not write their own speaches?
At least this president can pull off a good joke compared to the last president.
Reagan was good because he was an actor before becoming a president. Most presidents do not do well at public speaking. Some examples of this are LB Johnson, Nixon and Ford.
The big question is; could a comedian become president?
#7 bac – That would be awesome, a comedian president. Conan O’Brien.
Born April 18, 1963 (1963-04-18) (age 47)
Brookline, Massachusetts, United States
Jay would never live that one down.
I remember people asking David Letterman to run in the Bush vs Kerry year.
Gotta love our down to earth, talented President. He can connect with nearly everyone on earth except for cold, partisan, boorish Republicans.
#- Mark D — There was a movie about a comedian becoming president. It was called Man of the Year (2006) starring Robin Williams.
I haven’t watched the movie so I do not know how good it was.
Laura Bush has done the funniest White House Correspondents Dinner of the last 10 years. If only she had been the President for those 8 years…
The main difference between Obama and Dubya telling scripted jokes is that Obama actually ‘gets’ the jokes without having to have someone explain them to him afterwards.
terrible, he has no sense of timing even when the joke were written for him by John Stewart’s staff he can’t be funny
Great! Exactly what we need, a president that is a comedian.
Rough rides ahead!
The big question is; could a comedian become president?
I don’t know about president, but I do know you have to be smart to be successful at comedy. For example, I’ve enjoyed watching all the “Celebrity Jeopardy!” episodes over the years, where actors, musicians, interview show hosts, news readers, etc. compete on that quiz show. Time after time, it’s the comedians who do best. They just finished a celebrity championship series with quarter-finals, semi-finals and a two-game championship showdown. The finalists were Cheech Marin (yes, of Cheech & Chong), who won the very first celebrity match, Jane Curtin (original SNL, Kate & Allie, Third Rock from the Sun) and Michael McKean (Lenny from Laverne & Shirley, David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap, etc.), who won. Almost every game they played ended with all the scores well over 10,000. Very impressive.
