Face book is neither reasonable nor prudent in what it is doing because they have a lot of underage kids on their service and it’s only going to take one law suit due to a major bad they caused by the tricks they are pulling to clean their plow and have law makers work them over in a way they will never forget.
I vastly prefer Open Office to Google docs but I do use Google docs as a method of storing files that I need to access both at home and at work. They are worried that flash drives spread malware.
Schools teach MS Office because that is what businesses use as well as Colleges/Universities. I think most small businesses could save themselves a mint by using Open Office but that is just my opinion.
Our school system almost certainly won’t upgrade to Office 2010 when that comes out because we don’t have the cash. Our system is using Open Office to some degree.
I have certainly tried to teach the students about Google docs. The advantage is they can log on from any computer hooked to the net without having to transfer files from one machine at one location to another machine at another location and go to work. They can print using the printer that is hooked up to the computer.

On Facebook: Check your privacy settings. I made sure only last week that “Applications and Websites” is unchecked. Yesterday I looked at it again and guess what – changed without my permission to checked (unchecked again)… Weasels.
I quite like the WebOS from Palm (hated the creepy ads) and I like my HP dv6t. Hopefully they’ll make something cool and HP has the dough and patience to get into the market.
Facebook? I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
