Just in time to pair up with those new iPods, ViewSonic’s got some tasty widescreen monitors, complete with docks for Apple’s new players.
It’s the first monitor with “Made for iPod” certification from Apple, and should at least cut down on the clutter surrounding most PC desktops.
Coming in 19-inch and 22-inch versions, the screens pack USB ports too, as well as an 8-in-1 card reader, and that’s aside from an integrated microphone and stereo speakers.
What’s most surprising is ViewSonic have crammed in a subwoofer too, making this one of the most complete display and audio systems we’ve ever seen.
As you’d expect, there’s no scrimping on the screen’s specs, with ultra-fast response times, good brightness and contrast ratios, and wide viewing angles so it’s perfect for watching video.”
I find it interesting this package came from outside Apple. Viewsonic isn’t exactly known for straying outside the box. Just quality.
22inch iPod? Heh, size queens.
A product like this is going to stay the exception and not the norm. Viewsonic knows the market, and knows that doc may sell a lot of monitors that wouldn’t otherwise get moved.
Separate video docks for iPods already exist, and there are plenty of monitors that can use the output cable from a video iPod. Unless the Viewsonic is substantially cheaper than the combination of a dock, speakers, and a monitor, I don’t see this as a big seller.
That’s hot.
