6 lbs of pressure to the temple will kill. A toddler can accidentally kill a parent.

  2. maryland157 says:

    FALCON PUNCH!

  3. Ah_Yea says:

    Just a touch of sensationalism.

It’s a bad thing. The kid will get manslaughter, not murder 1 or 2.

Maybe we should outlaw hands. Hands kill people.

  4. McCullough says:

Old story…bad parenting leads to problems..meh. The answer: Discipline your kids..spanking is allowed.

  5. deowll says:

#1 Six pounds of pressure will kill? Apparently not. I didn’t die but a good hard blow bruising the brain and rupturing blood vessels can certainly kill you.

I suspect this apple didn’t fall to far from the tree. Neither had much self control and part of it may have been genetic. Some religions can help you control that kind of thing but I doubt if these people were religious though they may have been superstitious.

I’m afraid this young man’s life is ruined if it wasn’t ruined before the killing. This is not the kind of thing I could forget or forgive myself for doing.

    YMMV.

Here is a recent story about an 8 year old boy who shot and killed his father and another man in NE Arizona.

  7. sargasso says:

Domestic violence is largely unreported and the police prefer not to get involved – this is entirely wrong. Neighbors, friends, families, teachers, colleagues need to speak up when they think that someone’s home is a dangerous place. The kid always wanted to follow a role model. He got his wish.

  8. A sad and boring story. Why the hell is this on DU?

  9. bobbo, always needing more info says:

Usually, its not the punch but the head hitting the floor–or worse the street–or worse the sidewalk.

    I always think of eggs.

  10. RTaylor says:

You need to state the purpose of the post. Is is social commentary? People are desensitized to this type of news because it happens everyday. There is a glut of disturbed and angry people.

  11. The DON says:

I think the point of featuring this story on DU is to point out the bias of the reporting.

They repeatedly refer to the crime as murder. That requires intent. Intent which is not apparrent from the events reported. A heat of the moment altercation which results in death is more than 90% of the time, manslaughter (GBH with intent) as opposed to murder. Why would the reporters report this as a murder? That is clearly showing a bias.

  12. Mr. Fusion says:

    #12, Don,

You didn’t watch the WHOLE video, did you?

  13. Dallas says:

    Very sad story indeed.

    Agree with #12.
This is media frenzy to feed the sheeple news hour with their thirst for the outlandish, grotesque and bizarre.

  14. f. garza says:

Man it’s sad to see thing like this happen. Bad parenting.

  15. Butthead says:

#5 Huh huh, you said “a good hard blow”! Huh huh, huh huh!

  16. Buzz says:

Why all you have to do with some people is to look cross-eyed at them and away they go.

    Huh.

to clear up the confusion…..it’s in Washington state, which from what many of us up here already KNOW, is a police state.
I don’t know of anyone who has not been stopped at least ONCE by State Troopers, Sheriff’s, local police, or Border Patrol Agents, in the last year. Most have been stopped several times. (Have YOU been stopped lately to see if you were aware that your rear window needed to be fully defogged before you could travel on the highways?)
In the great state of Washington the laws are totally open to discussion and written in the vaguest of terms.
This is the exact RCW (our state laws) regarding premeditation:
    RCW 9A.32.020
    Premeditation — Limitations.
    (1) As used in this chapter, the premeditation required in order to support a conviction of the crime of murder in the first degree must involve more than a moment in point of time.
    (2) Nothing contained in this chapter shall affect RCW 46.61.520.

    http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=9A.32.020

Everyone is guilty up here. You can get a ticket for being in a left turn ONLY lane, and not have your turn signal on prior to the turn. (You’d also get a ticket for NOT turning if you were in a left-turn lane.) That is the mindset. The law doesn’t say that specifically, but it’s vague enough — so, eh, err on the side of sucking money out of the citizen’s pocket, or slamming them in jail.
The murder story, as reported, indicates the reality: the kid will be found guilty of first or second degree murder — with intent or not, as I doubt he will be able to prove the act was NOT premeditated.

  18. Dick Eades says:

Didn’t anyone notice that this was from MOX News? Wouldn’t that be a lot like The Onion? I say FAKE!!

  19. Notputtingmynameonthis says:

NO it isn’t a fake article. It was all over the news in Seattle.

Or is there a rash of this going on?
