sfgate.com – Friday, January 1, 2010:

Camping, 88, has scrutinized the Bible for almost 70 years and says he has developed a mathematical system to interpret prophecies hidden within the Good Book. One night a few years ago, Camping, a civil engineer by trade, crunched the numbers and was stunned at what he’d found: The world will end May 21, 2011.

This is not the first time Camping has made a bold prediction about Judgment Day.

On Sept. 6, 1994, dozens of Camping’s believers gathered inside Alameda’s Veterans Memorial Building to await the return of Christ, an event Camping had promised for two years. Followers dressed children in their Sunday best and held Bibles open-faced toward heaven.

But the world did not end. Camping allowed that he may have made a mathematical error. He spent the next decade running new calculations, as well as overseeing a media company that has grown significantly in size and reach.

  1. Rich says:

There will be no rapture in 2011 or any other time. But the way the world’s going eventually we’ll ALL be praying for it! Guaran-damn-teed.

  2. Benjamin says:

Christians make fun of Camping. I wonder what Bible he reads because it does not resemble my Bible or I can’t reach the conclusions he reaches by reading the Bible.

  3. Cursor_ says:

    #29 deowll

I crunched those numbers from all the HP books.

And it reads that in 2013 Voldemort returns.

In other words, the author will need some cash by 2012.

while not a rapture.. there is talk that the 2012 event math is off…and is actually Oct 28, 2011.

if you start seeing “very odd” “spiral” magnetics/plasma energy coming from the cosmos around this time, hold onto your hat..we will learn the true meaning of Continental Drift.

elsewhere….pay attention to the WISE spacecraft NASA launched recently..it’s looking for the brown dwarf they spotted in 2007 that is “perturbing” the orbits of the outer planets…

BUT, WHAT IF IT DOES HAPPEN??? WHAT WILL YOU DO.??? NOTHING, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT IN CONTROL OF THIS WORLD/UNIVERSE….GOD IS.

But what if Santa Claus really exists? You’ll get coal in your stocking! What if Zeus really exists and gets angry because you have not been making animal sacrifices to him? What if Flying Spaghetti monster really exists? He’ll turn you into a pirate! What if [fill-in mythical event du jour] exists? What will you do?

  8. krish5 says:

May God have mercy on us all.

This world has only 16 months left. After that it will end with the Rapture on May 21, 2011, huge world wide earthquake, world wide destruction due to stars, meteors, exploding in space and falling to earth and end of the universe on October 21, 2011

  9. onlyonetruth says:

there are exactly 7000 years form the flood to the year 2011, and May 21, 2011 is the 17th day of the second month in the Hebrew calendar (the Bible tells us that the flood occurred on the 17th day of the second month. This time path was discovered long after the date was already in view from studying the Bible. What are the chances of that? There is an incredible amount of information that this ancient and Holy Book gives about time and Judgment. This information is from an ancient calendar. I hope and pray this may spark someones interest to actually search out the matter. God is not dependent on our opinions and witty remarks. Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man and if you examine yourself you will find that you have fallen very short of that duty!!! Cry to Him for Mercy because Christ must be your substitute or else you will be destroyed for your own sins there is no excuse!!! If this has perked your interest here are some links with more info on the most important subjects

  10. PGM says:

A very wise and humble minister once told me in church years ago, if you really want to know what the date is on Gods calender watch Israel.

  11. Light says:

Great post ONLYONETRUTH, i’m glad someone is here of like mind and blessed with the understanding that GOD has revealed these things.

I see many here taking the time to search for this subject and then type idiotic comments on something they don’t believe or understand.

First of all the word RAPTURE means CATCHING UP, so don’t be a smart guy, also with all of the mocking and scoffing going on in on this page, i’m suprised no one her has taken the time to se how much of a fullfilment scripture prophetcy they are by commenting the things they are.

Also when GOD said no one knows the day or the hour, not the angels know even the son, GOD never said we would never know, and when HE said not even the son, HE did’nt say CHRIST HE said the son and IT’s impossible for CHRIST not to know when the end is because JESUS CHRIST is GOD ALMIGHT HIMSELF,so that’s an impossibility for HIM not to know.

The fact is when GOD speaks of the son not knowing, HE was infact speaking of satan, because satan is spoken of as the son of perdition in the bible.

Also if GOD did not give his elect the day of his return/judgmentday, then that would mean that GOD has changed, because HE’s the same yesterday today and forevermore, so if HE gave Noah the exact day when HE would bring the flood, and HE gave Abraham and Lott the day when HE would destroy sodom, and HE gave Jonah and the nenavites the exact day when HE was going to over through nenevah, the why would’nt HE give HIS elect saved the exact day when HE will Rapture HIS saved people and bring judgment upon the unsaved of this world and ultimately destroy this world.

You people should be very very afraid, because your mocking will not go on for much longer.
That day is almost here and if you are not saved by that day, your mockings, scoffing and laughter will turn into tears and cry’s of tourment.

7 nonths and 23 days to go!

  12. Jim Peters says:

I took # 40’s comment to the calculator, its interesting about the 17th mo. of the 2nd day.

  13. Fred says:

Most of the wiscracking posters here sound like they went to the IMUS school of logic!
God help all of you. You are the very ones that God created a Judgment day.

  14. Maybelle says:

    Stamping Out Harold Camping

I don’t care a fig for date-setters, especially those who predict when Christ will return. The current champion is 89-year-old, headline-grabbing Harold Camping of Family Radio fame.
Is Second Coming date-setter Harold Camping worthy of death? He already has a zero batting average after his September 1994 prediction fizzle and, according to the Bible, is a false prophet.
Nevertheless that California shaman, who should be ashamed, claims he’s found out that Christ’s return will be on May 21, 2011 even though Matt. 24:36 says that no one knows the “day” or “hour” of it!
A Google article (“Obama Fulfilling the Bible”) points out that “Deut. 18:20-22 in the Old Testament requires the death penalty for false prophets.”
The same article reveals that “Christians are commanded to ask God to send severe judgment on persons who commit and support the worst forms of evil (see I Cor. 5 and note ‘taken away’).”
Theologically radioactive Harold Camping and his ga-ga groupies (with their billboards featuring “May 21, 2011”) should worry about being “stamped out” if many persons decide to follow the I Cor. 5 command.
The above article concludes: “False prophets in the OT were stoned to death. Today they are just stoned!”
PS – For many years Camping was not known as a pretrib rapture teacher. But now, for $ome my$teriou$ rea$on, he seeks support from those who believe in and teach an imminent, pretrib rapture which supposedly will occur SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE the traditional SECOND COMING to earth! For a behind-the-scenes, documented look at the 181-year-old pretrib rapture belief (which was never a part of any official theology or organized church before 1830!), Google “Pretrib Rapture Dishonesty,” “Pretrib Rapture Diehards” and “Pretrib Rapture – Hidden Facts.” These are from the pen of journalist/historian Dave MacPherson a.k.a the “Pretrib Rapture Answerman” & the “Rush Limbaugh of the Rapture” – author of the bestselling book “The Rapture Plot,” an “encyclopedia” of pretrib rapture history (see Armageddon Books).

  15. Rev Fred says:

As a believer you have to realize that the unsaved have almost destroyed this planet already.
Today the unsaved have turned this world into a nightmare where our children are not even safe in the classroom. Their desires have nearly wrecked this planet. Their greed has have left our financial organizations bankrupt. Their unwholesome was desires have turned TV and the arts into a toilet. Their crassness is applauded by the world while making a mockery of all that is good and Godly. The people are led by their own violence, lust and greed and sinfulness. Just see what is on television and learn what people desire. There is nothing wholesome or Godly left in their desires, that is why the end is near!
Sooner or later one of these predictions has got to be right! You sound like you are saying that the world will never end! Look at the world today. How would you fix it?
The world is in such a mess our only hope is God’s return. You, who don’t want him to return, ask yourself: Who is going to help the world. The world is truly beyond any human help. No jobs, no money, no future. Governments around the world in unrest! Greed and violence and vice have already destroyed our world. Now our only salvation is the Lord’s intervention.
I can’t see the situation in the world improving unless some miracle changes every deranged heart on the planet!

  16. Ree says:

Rev Fred…why do you keep saying “their greed” “their crassness,” “their lusts”…excuse me…but we are ALL sinners and the ONLY thing parting believers from a sinner’s company is the Blood of Yeshua Ha Messiah…presumably, anyway. But I’m not your judge. Without HIM we are all just as lustful, just as crass, and just as greedy…and sometimes, we still don’t shake those sinful tendencies.

Look, believers, you can argue the point and pretend you understand GOD’s ways and try to name the date…but you are bickering over something that in the end, just won’t matter. Instead of fighting against people who do not share your belief, shut up and pray for them. It’s true that YAHWEH will judge the world…but HE didn’t create Judgement Day…WE did through our sin. ALL of us. And you think that your god created a judgement day for people who do not understand christianity…well, YOU are the reason they don’t understand!! YOUR judgement will not be any prettier if you do not stop acting so prideful and know-it-all-ish and humble yourselves, ask for forgiveness for elevating yourself above people whom YAHWEH loves…and HE loves us all. The saints AND the sinners.

For crying out loud….try to at least make yourselves look a little different!

For you non-believers, nothing I say will convince you of the sacrificial gift that was made because YAHWEH loves you. So I will do my part and pray for you while YAHWEH does HIS part and reveals HIS heart for you!

It seems as if another group has entered the billboard wars in Camping’s/Family Radio’s back yard of Oakland, CA. They are disputing Camping’s claims with a compelling message of “Jesus is already here.” Here’s the billboard photo:

I am more concerned about being READY for His return not when He will return. But once the trib starts( passover I think) we will know the day won’t we? 3 1/2 years later Trumpets through Tabernacles. This unfortunate fellow may be a little confused in his reasoning.First we will need a anti christ, false prophet, two witnesses, global martyrdom, mark of the beast at least one more war, oh yea and maybe a few trees burned as well as 80 pound hailstones, king of the south, seas destroyed, dead fish, scorching by the sun, poison water etccc….This is making me hungry
