Book publishing is such a racket, it took years (9 I believe) for the first Harry Potter book to be sold. We need a new publishing model anyway.
If you want an excellent example on perseverance, follow what Rowling did to publish her first book.
All, and I mean ALL, of the major publishers turned her down.
How else do you think Scholastic got the rights?

I always wondered how the porn industry would look when pitched as a business plan in MBA school:
Professor: So let me get this right. You propose that we pay sexy women to have sex with men on film and they act like they are having fun. And then we edit and package the film footage and sell it to men?
Student: Correct.
Professor: And you are proposing that these men will pay good money to have OTHER men do something that THEY really want to do themselves?
Student: Correct.
Professor: Failed.
