Make fun of the U.N. all you want, but it is they who invariably are tasked with cleaning up our messes.
They’re still defusing bombs we dropped from our forgotten wars in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Yugoslavian region.

The UN Demining organization is a top heavy bureaucratic fiefdom that spends far more money each year on pamphlets than it does on demining.
For the real heroes in this arena check out NGOs like HALO or MAG or, even better, the local NGOs in Cambodia or Afghanistan or a couple dozen other countries, they have trained.
The UN is far more concerned with keeping mid-level bureaucrats from third world countries employed with world class salaries than in saving the limbs of school children in Angola.
