Will the real Kim Jong-il please stand up

A number of analysts here are convinced that not all the photos being released of North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-il, are really photos of Kim Jong-il.

Instead, they say, a look-alike has been standing in for him on some of the 122 trips he’s reportedly made this year to the countryside, factories, cultural events, military units, and all sorts of other venues.

Some observers say the North Korean leader is too ill to make all these appearances. One Japanese analyst claims President Clinton didn’t meet with Kim Jong-il in August – he met with a Mr. Kim double.

Shigemura suspects that a skilled actor delivered the lines to Mr. Clinton during their three-hour, 17-minute meeting, which ended with Mr. Clinton flying back to the US with two journalists who had been held for 140 days.

Shigemura is equally convinced that an actor played Kim in recent meetings with China’s prime minister, Wen Jiabao, and the head of Hyundai Asan, the South Korean company responsible for developing special economic and tourist complexes in North Korea.

Well Clinton is a phony emissary so I suppose its only fair.

  3. SparkyOne says:

    real Jong, fake Clinton

  4. Heinrich Moltke says:

The crotch is different. The one on the left is obviously hung like a horse. My guess is that he is Huj-Hung Il, the famous Korean adult actor. The one on the right has a vagina.

  5. gmknobl says:

Sorry but Hillary is a real emissary who is taken seriously by Obama; make no mistake about that.

  6. chuck says:

We have 2 or 3 actors playing Osama Bin Laden for the CIA. And there are at least 2 Obamas. Why shouldn’t there be multiple Kim Jong-il’s?

Why would they even need a “skilled” actor. Do you think the fake Clinton cared who he was talking to?

  7. jimmy james says:

#6, sorry but it was Bill that went.

  8. sargasso says:

The one on the right, has very hairy hands.

  9. StoopidFlanders says:

5,9. While you were busy taking the time to study his hairy hands an crotch size, he was building missiles to launch at your children. Perhaps this would be a good opportunity for you to re-evaluate your priorities.

What about that guy on MAD TV?
    THAT MAKES THREE!!!!!!!

  11. yanikinwaoz says:

    This is a bit dated…
During the 2nd Gulf War, the Iraqi defense minister summons the 3 Saddam doubles into a meeting room.

“I have good news and bad news.” the minister tells the doubles. “The good news, thanks be to Allah, that our glorious leader Saddam Hussain is still alive.”

“The bad news, he just lost an arm.”

  12. Buzz says:

Quick test: Since the angle of view is slightly different on the two individuals pictured, lift off the portion of each image that contains the head, and put both shots side by side.

Now rotate both 90 degrees counter clock wise.

Put the image of the green outfit on the left of the tan outfit.

Cross your eyes to see the two shots in-register in your brain.

    Not Kidding.

These instructions cause the slightly up looking green outfit to land in your right eye, the other in your left. Now all your brain has to do is LOOK. And process. And decide.

You get a 3D image of a single, obviously photometrically identical human being. Your brain is a far faster facial feature processor than the person who raised these questions.

Your brain is very forgiving of features caused by the gaunt appearance of someone who has lost weight, etc., and can tell that the skull under that skin is identical in both images.

Whomever this person is, he (we assume) is in both of these shots, at least.

The test here is, in its way, as simple and direct as when Feynman put the Challenger booster sealant material in ice water to see how it behaved.

  15. The0ne says:

Definitely can picture him dead. Definitely.

  16. ZZman says:

I met Kim Jong-il once, I noticed he had 12 fingers, in pictures he had only 10. Isn’t it wild what you can do with Photoshop, or could it be that I just met his clone. Anyway, those N.Koreans seem to have good grasp of hi-tech.

  17. Glenn E. says:

So Kim Jong-il pulled a Churchhill. Who also had an actor subbing in for him, during WW2. Nothing like copying the greats, eh? This just proves that political figureheads exist under all forms of government. Reagan and Bush II were stand ins for the real boss(es). Their VPs and the Pentagon. The real Jong-il is probably just as superfluous in his country’s power structure.

  18. Rick Cain says:

I think we went through this same crap when CNN was referring to videos of Saddam as “A man reputed to be Saddam Hussein”

    Facepalm, eye rolling, etc…

How stupid is the press, pretty stupid.
