EETimes.com – AMD lobs another complaint against Intel — This is now a relentless assault. It’s quite interesting, to say the least.
Advanced Micro Devices is filing another formal unfair business practice complaint against Intel — this time in Germany.
AMD Spokesperson Michael Silverman said during an interview Thursday that AMD has evidence of written agreements between Intel and retailers to keep electronic devices made with AMD processors off store shelves.
AMD has made similar claims of anti-competitive practices in Asia, Europe and the United States. Investigators have raided Intel offices in several countries. Probes are still underway in Korea and the European Union; a lawsuit is pending in a U.S. Federal District Court; and Japanese authorities ruled that Intel violated anti-trust laws by forging agreements with five OEMs to exclude AMD products.
Intel did not immediately return requests for comment Thursday. Intel has denied the allegations and maintained that its practices are legal.
I wonder if they’re just bitter for not thinknig of it first.
Just goes to show there is nothing FREE about the market.
To have thought of those practices first, they’d have to be several thousand years old as a company. 🙂
Intel must realize that their business needs a shaking up. They just announced the firing of 1,000 managers.

Either that or they are looking for some money to pay AMD’s damages.
Computers aren’t being upgraded as frequently. Unless you’re a PC gamer, there’s no compelling reason to buy new computers. That coupled with market saturation means slow growth. I upgrade computers on a two year or less cycle, but I admit it’s not economical. It’s far more want than need.
RT, I’m not 100% sure. At this moment in time, people has slowed down replacing or upgrading computers simply because what we bought three or four years ago will still work just fine with XP and our digital camera. As soon as VISTA comes out, look for a lot of people to start upgrading and buying new machines. Also as more and more people buy DV cameras and amass larger collections of 6-10 MB pictures they will want bigger hard drives and more powerful processors. This is more likely a temporary pause then a slowdown.
