Well, we know now where George Lucas got the look for little Anikin in the pod-race for “The Phantom Menace”.
Just watch about 1:15 into the clip there and you’ll see what I mean.

Things I remember about Pole Position:
1) In the arcade, spining the wheel as hard as you could and letting off the gas let you take the hair pin turn without crashing.
2) In the home versions, cranking on the joystick harder did not give you a tighter turn radius.
3) Pole Position II was even better than PPI, but not by much.
4) The Saturday morning cartoon Pole Position had nothing to do with the video game, but was still cool.

Atari and Activison did do some nutty commercials.
I miss my 5200
They don’t make em like they used to.
Still better than anything hollywood has sloshed out in the past few years.
Looks to me like Biff left skid marks somewhere else.
That commercial was infintely more exciting than actually playing pole position 🙂
