MAKE: Blog: How it’s made – Laser etching Powerbooks FYI — Very cool.

Last weekend we laser etched 3 more Powerbooks. We etched two 15″ Powerbooks and a 12″ – this time we etched a very cool bunny infused Tsunami, a NeXT logo as well as a subtle and elegant plum blossom. If you’ve wondered about the process, tools or just how laser etching looks – I put together some of the photos, links and files. Enjoy!

  1. Bruce IV says:

Definitely very neat. Apple should offer this as an option on all its Powerbooks.

  2. Mike Voice says:

Now they just need to get an Intel-based Mac running the software [Bootcamp, Parallels, Crossover, DarWine] and ditch the Sony laptop… [grin]

  3. Joao says:

    This is SOooooo un-apple…

  4. Angel H. Wong says:

I can’t wait to see Apple coat their laptops with a special film that will allow only Apple laser etchers to carve into them… Greedy bastards…
