Asahi combo TV-DVD Player-Beer Cooler
Police in southern Japan closed off roads, evacuated residents and even brought in a bomb squad after spotting a suspicious box in a police station, only to find out it was a six-pack of beer.
Police in Iizuka City in Fukuoka took precautions after discovering the box, wrapped in newspaper and sealed with adhesive tape, on the counter of a police station Friday afternoon, a police spokesman said.
A bomb squad was rushed to the scene after an X-ray scan showed metallic cylinders inside the box. A local television station broadcast the incident live using helicopters, he said.
But police found out the true contents after a woman, having seen the TV report, contacted them saying that she had left the cans of beer Friday morning in return for receiving advice on home security.
I know just where these guys can get a job if they ever decide to move to the States.
they can go work at the TSA – the tsa is always in need of people who dont think things through completely
LOVe it..

Hahaha, this was a good one! ;D
Sounds like teenagers trying to hide their stash for later.
A combo refrigerator DVD player doesn’t make any sense to me but, even so, I’d kind of like to have one!
As for the article… I find it kind of interesting that this woman would give a gift to the police for security advice. I don’t think very many Americans would feel that way about simple advice.. That’s what we pay them for!
My brother worked search-and-rescue and would fairly regularly take significant personal risks to save people’s lives. He told me that very rarely did anyone come back and thank his crew.
I happened to be with him when it happened once (even though the victim died) when a woman came and thanked them — it was a meaningful gesture for the crew.
It’s the sign of the times this world is in. It would have been better if the woman just left the cans of beer in a plastic or paper bag with a note on it, would have made more sense…

My reaction too. I think such products are created just so we can buy one, spend a week or two enjoying their uniqueness, then put them in storage because they don’t actually meet a need but are “too good to throw away.” 🙂
“Has anyone seen a package I left here on the counter?”
