Docomo launches in-flight roaming service — NO! NO! NO! Anything but this!!!!!!
I will personally not fly on any airline that allows this. Can you imagine sitting next to the cell phone blowhard for hours and hours?

Ug. I’ve already had to put up with grossly overpaid executives making long quasi-business calls on the in-flight telephones while I try to sleep. Make it easier by letting people use their own cell phones? It’s already bad enough that I have to stand next to some guy doing his business on his cell phone while doing his business at a urinal (at least once in each of the last three airports I’ve been through).
Did I mis-read the article? In reading the info in the link you are quoting they are referencing specifically the use of “hot-spots” for Wi-Fi access I think. I’m sure that this is the first step towards in flight cell phones, but the tone of that article was seeming to discuss laptop connectivity.
