Any resemblance to Canadian legislators is purely coincidental.

This is hilarious. What do they think they are, Americans?

I’ve always felt that those in our Congress and Senate would serve us best by doing as little as possible since when they do do something, it’s usually to make things worse. Now if only Bush would emulate these guys.

Canadian Lawmakers Accidentally Pass Budget in House

The Canadian government’s C$227 billion ($204 billion) budget was passed in the House of Commons after opposition lawmakers accidentally failed to stand up to debate the spending plan.

“It passed with unanimous consent,” Finance Minister Jim Flaherty told reporters outside the House of Commons in Ottawa today.

Legislators were supposed to hold a debate and final vote on the spending plan after Parliament’s finance committee completed its review. By remaining seated in the House of Commons, opposition lawmakers allowed the bill to pass “in a matter of minutes,” said Libby Davies, the New Democratic Party member responsible for legislation.

Now that is truely awesome! Like any other jobs, if you don’t pay attention sometimes you will get burned. Of course this is 200+ politicians not paying attention all at the same time…

    Isn’t that normal?

Great story except that its completely wrong. It wasn’t passed by mistake the opposition simply decided that with the support of the Bloc behind it there was no point in drawing out the process. I mean, they certainly don’t want to exceed the 5-10 hour workweek of the average politician if they can help it, and I’m sure they’d all rather be at the cottage catching fish than trading insults and rhetoric (close second though).

A truly inspired photo and caption, Uncle Dave 😉

Apparently. they are a comedy juggling group called the Flaming Idiots. As if that weren’t intuitively obvious from the photo.

Nice try Jeff but that’s not what happend. The Con MP that was suppose to speak to the bill never showed up and the rest of the house was waiting for that. When the Government failed to have anyone address the house, it moved on to a vote and it was done before anyone noticed no one spoke on it.

Bush will want video of that session…….so his people can try that next year here.
