This apparently took a mere 1500 hours to create.

Now confess. How many of you spent at least that long trying to master some of these games?

  1. Benjamin says:

Nice. I like Lego stop motion animation. Search YouTube for more examples. I like this genre. It sounds like really hard work.

  2. andycatus says:

    Amend the title to
“A Tribute To 8-Bit Video Games Done With Lego”.

WTF is Legos? A Greek island?

  3. Miguel says:

I lived through the 80’s 8 bit revolution, and I still wonder what I’d feel then if I knew one day I’d watch VIDEO, on a COMPUTER, with MUSIC, playing a tribute to the games I then played, sent from another computer on THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD, though something called an INTERNET…

This would be unimaginable then! I was happy just to see squares or rudimentary figures moving up and down in my lovely old Sinclair ZX Spectrum!

  4. ECA says:

    OK,
who wants to convert that to 256 colors??

  5. The Monster's Lawyer says:

    (yawn)

    #2 Benjamin,

I visited a couple of arcades. I didn’t play much. I tried to do well at Pac-man, and reached the third screen (not to well).

Great computer generated video of a c. 1984 arcade! Click the left side of the screen for sound effects only and the right side for music and sound effects.

This is a montage of stills from an arcade c. 1980.

  7. Uncle Dave says:

#3: What are Legos? Were you never a kid?

  8. Jason says:

That video probably took longer to make than the programming for Pac-Man did.

  9. Richard L. says:

#8: I think the point of #3 is that there is no plural to Lego. It shouldn’t have an “s” at the end. Hence the Greek island joke.

  10. Zybch says:

Nice stuff, except for the non-lego bits. They killed it for me.

  11. Uncle Dave says:

#10: So, the plural of Lego is Lego?

  12. Richard L. says:

#13: yes, or if you prefer Lego bricks (or Lego toys). There was some ruffled feathers a few years ago from Lego about that. Search ‘Lego bricks vs “legos”‘ on the web for details.

Lego even makes a point to splash a temporary web page on http://www.legos.com saying: Oh! you must mean http://www.lego.com let us take you there, instead of at strait redirect. 🙂

  13. gooddebate says:

Come on, haven’t you guys heard of the internet? Look it up, the plural of Lego is Lego Bricks.

  14. andycatus says:

#13 Yes. Plural of Lego is Lego.

Put it in the Blog’s staff training manual.

Everytime Lego is featured on this blog the same mistake is made every time. It will happen again. But please try to remember.

It was really great video i ever seen…
    I totally enjoy the whole….

  16. Yeah the ZX Spectrum ruled!!! Now, the funniest irony is that they make a HD version of the video available. What’s the point of high definition to see a video that’s purposefully low-res/blocky/jagged to look like classic games? 😉 The quick part for Tetris was the best.

  17. aion kinah says:

Honestly, I spent over a week just to master Pac-Man! But during those days, money and time spent on arcade are all worth it. It feels like heaven, right? Admit it. 🙂

  18. r4 ds says:

    Hi all…
I am playing games on pc and i like to more about gaming…
I like this article because it’s about gaming…
