The quid pro quo for the health corps & insurers? That’s easy: employer/individual mandate couple with reduced minimum benefit (ie lower actuarial rate, now apparently whittled down to .65 insurance payout on the dollar). That means out-of-pocket costs will go up on average under “reform”. Sure, they concede guaranteed issue, community rating, non-discrimination, and a boat load of pro ads. But mainly that gives them the right to pick our pockets. Business Week story and interview with author blogged HERE.
The flow of the conversation is getting very good now; temper, edge and some crankiness of good old John C. style. Adam masters the throttle for the seamless stream, backing off enough for John to rev up and lay it out.. It is getting where I start to get itchy if the NA download is not there on time… And 3 times a week is a desire. By the way, I have paid.
Now – one thing I really don’t get is John’s ridiculing of Atlas Shrugged and Ayn Rand. He has not read the book, still claim it to be the same as The Fountainhead. Nothing could be more wrong. Adam is absolutely right. Atlas Shrugged is a scary description on something that is actually ongoing. right here, right now. Why John is so reluctant to even consider reading the book, at the same time denying its relevance is unlike him as I have learned to understand him over the years. Adam should continue to educate John on the book and its relevance, the rest of us for that matter. Actually wish Adam would use the book as comparisons to the relevant issues in NA. That would be very interesting analysis. Maybe a “Who Is John C.” should become a mantra…?
You would get more subscriptions IF THE SUBSCRIBE BUTTON WORKED on dvorak.org/na. Just sayin’.
Best podcast and best coverart out there.
$23 trillion in thefts… er… I mean bailouts according to WSJ.
And what are Americans doing about it?
Nothin’.
Americans obsess over petty crimes but they always let the rich people steal what they want.
A card company called me and asked what that web address was again for the blog. I told them to go to Dvorak.org and also to listen to No Agenda. They made their way to the podcast. The rep called me back and said they wouldn’t be advertising. I can’t figure out why.
#1 The health care bill is nothing less than a way to move money from the bank accounts of some people to the bank accounts of other people and bleep the working class with insurance, small business, and seniors.
Nothing gets fixed that was broken so whatever it is it isn’t reform.
Obama doesn’t have a health care plan. He has talking points. Since his blather seems to have nothing to do with the written documents being considered I wish he’d shut up.
If a nation gets the government it deserves we’ve been very bad.
God bless and have a great weekend.
Wow….I always thought JCD was such a realist. But if he thinks he’ll ever get paid properly for this podcast by asking “please. pretty please”….the Dvorak I grew up reading knows this plan is flawed. When the users already have the product, and you’re hoping they’ll pay out of the generosity of their hearts, you’ll get small payments. Shareware and Freeware proved that already. Users need something extra to entice them into spending hard earned cash.
Voluntary payments WON”T work…and Dvorak already knows this (I hope)
The dinners sound awesome…but they could be cheap catered dinners….many fans would pay outrageous amounts to share a crappy meal with either John or Adam. Charge the 500, but don’t bother making it a great meal…just a good one. Keep the number of diners low enough that we’ll be gaurenteed to get to talk to one of you a bit….and get a picture. Looks like a winner. Works for politicians at least.
You should be way more careful to make sure good donors are always mentioned. Thats probably why you make more on the thursday podcast…you’re far more sure to name donors on sunday and skip them on thursday…so If I were to donate, it’d be after thursday….so you’d mention me and I wouldn’t be forgotten.
((This is my cool idea for you))
Have a loud cash register sound go off whenever a large donation happens during the live stream. People will do it just to mess up John’s train of thought.
((Also))
You’ve had some excellent artwork. Sell me a T Shirt.
((And))
Put out something once a month or so that you both reasearch the heck out of…promo it…make it so good its worth paying for…and make it something we wanna buy….then charge for it .
Just ideas, cause I wanna see the show keep going.
BTW….If you can come up with a tshirt that says “JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS Lets vote for JOBS” somewhere close to the belly….Im sold.
Love the show, might I suggest cutting the “repeat” siren from 3 loops to 2. Too many loops distract from the show and it might help with the flow.
Link to the blue mushroom?
Thanks!
#3, Yeah, sent John an email about the “donate any amount” button on dvorak.org/na bout a week ago.
At least they have one URL now, noagendashow.com
Now if they could just put everything having to do with the show on that page…
No that would be too easy for everyone.
Hmmm, More URL’s more AD Views?
And to the show, Adam and John agree too much nowdays, the show is all political talk, hardly any funny or odd news, and when is the last time John told us a story like “The history of leaded gasoline” or “Where cork comes from”
Just Sayin’
Love the show and not going to stop listening yet but all gloom and political doom, boring.
John mentioned the First Gulf War, and I have a comment on that. I saw a video of The U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, April Glaspie, being interviewed by Saddam Hussein 10 days before Iraq invaded Kuwait. Hussein made it clear that there were troops Iraqi troops massed on Kuwait’s border. It was broadcast on the Seattle Public television station, and since then seems to have vanished off the face of the earth.
He apparently believed that neither the United States nor any of its allies would retaliate in response to the invasion. In fact, just a week before he sent his army into Kuwait, Hussein had been told by U.S. Ambassador April Glaspie that “we have no opinion on your Arab-Arab conflicts, such as your dispute with Kuwait.”
There are many references. on the web to the spin the media put on the war.
