A comment about the ShangHai swine flu video.
It’s real.
How do I know? I have recently been to China and they are doing this exact thing. I arrived in Beijing and before they let you out of the terminal, you have to walk under a line of machines that reads your body temperature. If you temperature is elevated, they send you to a state run hospital for SEVEN DAYS to run tests and let the flu run it’s course.
Well, the ShangHai airport doesn’t have the machines installed yet, and hence the scene from “The Andromeda Strain”.
I got lucky. I was dog sick on my way to China, but I took a truckload of aspirin about 4 hours before landing, so I didn’t show any fever. (Swine flu, maybe – and they still let me in!!)
