A shocking legal loophole discovered by authorities in Rhode Island.

While teens can’t pump gas or climb ladders on the job because of protections in workplace laws, there is nothing on the books keeping 16- and 17-year-olds from stripping – as long as they’re home by 11:30 on school nights.

Authorities discovered this loophole during a police investigation into a 16-year-old runaway found working at a strip club in Providence.

    Quick, to the airport!

Don’t judge me, you’re thinking the same thing, ya sick bastards.

  2. GF says:

Isn’t Rhode Island the place that has a prostitution loophole too.

  3. bobbo, call off your old tired ethics says:

    Stripping is a legal activity.

Kiddies can get married at 16-14-12 etc.

Yes, it would be much better if these private entrepeneurs were forced into illegal prostitution in order to keep from going back home or into child services.

Ever been to a strip club? Seedy, tacky, harmless. Course, its all “attitude.” I was harmed by going to Sunday School.

  4. laxdude says:

In my Province, all the stripping laws were tied to the liquor control act. When a place in my city could not get a liquor license, they opened anyway booze free and it was discovered legally they could admit and hire anyone they wanted (over age 14 I think). They were smart enough to not let in kids or intentionally hire under age dancers…but they did use it as a defense when a bunch of the dancers turned out to be high schoolers.

I guess it was better than the other high school girls that were arrested working the stroll at the very same time.

  5. JohnTodd says:

Wait… legal indoor prostitution? Are you sure this isn’t some kind of guerrilla marketing campaign by the Rhode Island tourism board?

  6. Benjamin says:

I don’t go to strip clubs, but I would be feel creepy if the girl who was giving me a lap dance was underage. Actually I would probably feel creepy if she wasn’t in her mid to late twenties, but that is just a sign of growwing older.

  7. Wow says:

Time to go to Providence!!!! If a 16-year-old girl wanted to give me a lap dance, I certainly wouldn’t stop her. 😀 If it’s legal and she’s doing it of her own free will, then what’s the problem? Reminds me of the time I found out that one of the Hooters girls was only 17. It seemed weird for a few seconds, but then I decided that there was nothing wrong with it at all.

  8. hhopper says:

Actually, I would feel creepy getting a lap dance.

That woman’s accent was like fingernails on a chalkboard.

  9. Rich says:

    A woman’s body with a child’s face should be a wee bit creepy. That’s what a 16-year-old is.

  10. Wow says:

OK, maybe if she looked like a really young girl, then it would be creepy, but most of the girls that would work there are probably the kind that look WAY older than they really are. And if it was too creepy, then nobody would get dances with her and she’d stop working there.

  11. Been there, done that says:

#6 “but I would be feel creepy if the girl who was giving me a lap dance was underage”

Even creepier is having a lap dance from a woman as old as your mother.

  12. bobbo, laws have consequences says:

So RI is going to outlaw indoor prostitution? How will their legislature legally meet then?

  13. Lou says:

    And the problem is ?

  14. deadpixel says:

how much does a 16 year old get for a private dance? hell i’d get one just to be able to say i did.

i just hope she’s saving some of that cash for college. i say let her dance.

  15. Cap'nKangaroo says:

But what if you took a picture of a 16 yr old dancing? Uncle Sam would most likely drop the child pornography hammer on you. So leave your cameras and cell phones at home.

  16. Computer_kid says:

Rhode Island: The Florida to the North

There is an ever increasing amount of strange news coming from Rhode Island.

  17. Elmo says:

    What’s the problem?

  18. Dippity Doo says:

    “Shocking. Just Shocking!”

    Big deal.

  19. PreVert says:

    # 11 Been there, done that said,”Even creepier is having a lap dance from a woman as old as your mother.”

Actually, your mother wasn’t half bad…

  20. Oscar says:

I would really like to see the facts of this case. Is there a tape of the young lady dancing? Just so I could fairly judge the issue.

  21. Hal 9000 says:

I am confused. We are told at the start that she is 16 and then this woman with the weird accent keeps referring to her as a minor.

Is this girl under 16, a minor or 16, a young adult old enough to get married in much of the civilised world?

  22. Ralph, the Bus Driver says:

I think Alphie is moving to Rhode Island.

  23. fulanoche says:

    #19 & #20

    ROFL!

  24. amodedoma says:

While physical maturity in the human female can be achieved by 16 I seriously doubt her psychological maturity is up to the challenge of survival in that particular context, pimps, drugs, prostitution. She’s a runaway and I’m sure she has her reasons. These are hard times and a runaway has few alternatives. Just another sad story from a country whose ‘lifestyle’ used to be the envy of the civilized world.

  25. orangetiki says:

I’m kinda shocked this wasn’t in Florida.

  26. Rick's Cafe says:

Interesting responses…different than the massive ranting a couple months ago when a bar was caught with an underage runaway stripper (with fake ID and in a different state).

Does this mean we’re getting use to the idea?
