CSPAN Interview of Roger Ailes — Yes, there is some bluster here, but if you have not seen this 2004 interview of FOX News Chairman, Roger Ailes, I think you’ll find it quite interesting. Fascinating insight into the network people love to hate.
This interview was found by reader Todd Townsend in response to some snide comment I made about focus groups ruining the country. He pointed out that Ailes had me beat with his comment: “Focus groups: you go to a mall, you get 12 people who need $40 and somebody to talk to, and then you try to get them to explain how to do your job. That strikes me as pathetic.”
RealPlayer? Companies still shove that garbage down our throats?
That guy should just admit it is a proproganda channel. The ratings are just from a mass of people that like to hear what they want to hear.
MUST SEE TV.
Steven Colbert taking about the president in front of the president.
Anyone care to guess what country this guy is going to be ‘rendered’ to?
Remember.. the president is sitting in the audience!!!
My god… this took BIG cojones!

Fox caters to centrist America whom are convinced most news agencies have a liberal bias. These are the people that elected the current President, twice. It’s easier to give the consumer what he already wants than to make a hard pitch for what he needs.
The Crooks and Liars link isn’t working for me, but you can see it here:
Part 1
Part 2
Crappy video quality, but still absolutely hilarious!
Thanks for the links, Awake & Greg. If I’d known it was broadcast live last night, I would have recorded it myself. Colbert is truly the current reigning king of political satire.
I like Fox news. I don’t care much or at all really, for Bill O’Rielly, or the Hannity and Combs show. I just watch the news part and I wouldn’t miss Britt Humes afternoon show. They discuss politics from another point of view, but they are rarely wrong. And I have found that they can be more sympathectic to liberals than liberals.
Of course middle america watches it. Those people had no one telling them anything for 20 years. I found that Fox is more balanced in the news it presents and the telling of the facts than it’s more liberal competitors. Ailes was right about one thing…..Americans aren’t stupid, they may act dumb, or uninterested, or be less educated than some, but they knew when they were being given only one side of the news.
You have to watch or listen to or read several sources if you want to find the real truth in the news. Fox is one of those sources, along with BBC News, the Times of London and a few others.
What will you learn only getting it all from parrots?
All news is biased. If your going to get news from one source it might as well be the from the side of the fence you are on.
And respected doesn’t be unbiased :cough: NY Times :cough:
