That is so true and sorta sad the great person that died yesterday was Farrah Fawcett, she never was accused of molesting children she never paid off her accusers, but she only gets a foot note mention and we get wall to wall bullshit from unknown talking heads about a pervert with more mental problems that you can list who used to 20 years ago be a really good singer and entertainer

lol, was watching CNN yesterday and they played an iReporter video from some random guy sitting at his desk basically saying “get well,” because they thought we should all see it. And then they brought this guy in live over the phone to talk for 5 minutes because they had nothing better to show or report.
24 hour news is so cutting edge.
I found it humorous that tmz reported him dead and it took nearly an hour before I saw any other major publication mention his death. No one wants to be the first to use tmz as a reliable source..which is fine.
However, I don’t understand how twitter is a reliable source for Iran news, but tmz isn’t reliable for announcing a celebrity death.

Maybe up to 200,000 wonderful people died yesterday and no-one mentioned any of them, except maybe Farah (and she was nutty too). It should be no surprise that one of the most famous spectacles on earth dying gets the attention.
Great ; of ability, quality, or eminence considerably above the normal or average = Michael Jackson (music & dance) and Farrah (beauty).

The jokes on the “Jackson is dead” page about 12 year old boys etc. are sick and ill-considered because the accusations may be true and therefore the jokes are on the victims not the dead pop star, but I guess stirring people up is more important.
One reason MJ croaking is such news is, obviously, but unsaid by the politically correct news outlets, because so many people like myself are quite happy to see this creep dead. Thanks, Jacko!

I am sure that is partly true. Also partly because others are not, but mainly to procure money through advertising and to provide mind numbing tedium for the minds of the masses.
With Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson dying recently, I bet that a few people made a lot of money on a death pool.

I thought it very over the top that the three major cable news networks seemed totally committed to reporting about Jackson. Hours after he was dead. If one of them had passed and went on with normal programming they would have swept the ratings.

Ever since Princess Di died, the news coverage was at critical mass since the first day. The running joke for weeks at my home about Princes Dianna was “So, what’s new about Princess Dianna?” “…she’s still dead!”
I also think Farah Fawcett is really ticked off that MJ stole her spotlight for dying on the same day. Hell a nuclear bomb could have gone off yesterday and it wouldn’t have taken CNN off the news coverage of MJ’s death.

From what I understand, especially when it comes to celebrities. Often when someone suffers trauma and goes to a hospital there is a rule that only other people who are made aware is the victims family and next of kin.
It’s really none of the public’s business, and often its a choice of the family to make any choices regarding public information. This is why for the first 3-4 hours after the initial 911 call we were all basically clueless as to what had happen to MJ.
As for Twiter and Iran, you have to remember that Iran is still a repressed country, and the government still controls the media and press. This is why Twitter can be seen as a more reliable source than any media outlet (even in the USA) since people who are seeing events FIRST HAND can twitter or blog about it almost immediately.

Pop culture genius?–sure, but who cares. No, the lesson of MJ and Farrah to a lesser degree FOR ALL OF US, ESPECIALLY THE PARENTS, is how powerful environment can be. I do assume, and its an assumption only, that MJ was born a normal person, then simply stuck in a cage. He didn’t have the genetic makeup/saving environmental factor to overcome his childhood/lack thereof.
All our kiddies are in the same circumstance–that of being bent and twisted by their parents/surroundings/environment.
I wonder what character of personality allows one to “independently” decide what kind of person one will be rather than stay on the path created by our parents?

Another iReporter woman crying because of MJ dying. The anchor asked her how many times she had seen him perform live. She said never, that she only knew him from videos. Upset like a member of her family had died. She seriously needs to get a life. It boggles the mind sometimes. *shakes head*
