Remember the good old days when all kids had to worry about were broken bones from trying to fly from the garage roof, pretending to be Superman? Good times, good times… |
Cell phones have been accused of causing cancer before, and of lowering fertility thanks to their heat levels. However, doctors worldwide are reporting a less sensational, but potentially far more dangerous affliction striking users worldwide. Scientist are dubbing the new disease “cell phone elbow”, a use injury similar perhaps to Wii-itis, but with the potential to cause long term damage.
According to doctors, when you bend your elbow to hold your cell phone to your ear, you stretch a nerve which extends underneath the funny bone and controls the smallest fingers. According to Dr. Peter J. Evans, the director of the Hand and Upper Extremity Center at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, long chats can “(choke) the blood supply to the nerves. It makes the nerves short-circuit. The next thing you know, there’s tingling in the ring and small finger.”
Doctors are advising users who experience such tingling sensations to switch hands and, if possible, cut back on their use.
Wouldn’t this apply to any phone? Sounds like BS.
Aren’t teens texting instead of holding a phone to their ear? And normal people would just switch hands when one hand started to get tired. I wave the BS flag on this story.
Cell phones should be banned except for emergency use. Having radio waves held that close to your ear is obviously bad. It wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what’s killing bees.
The Bluetooth ear pieces are essential.
What about all the people who talked for hours each day on a home phone before cellphones? Their fingers are just fine…

We should definately ban bees from using cellphones!
The Bluetoooth earpieces are ridiculous. You look like an idiot….but hey, it’s your look. I’ll just point and laugh.
#4. When the RF is being concentrated less than an inch from your brain, your theory falls apart. It’s a different thing. Sounds like you are already suffering some brain damage.
And yeah..have to agree somewhat with MikeN, until the data is all in, and the studies funded by INDEPENDENT sources. We won’t know. (See Safe cigarettes from the 50’s).
hhmmm i have this problem… but i dont own a cell phone…
🙁
#8 There are two main risks people associate with cellphones. The first is “It has radiation like x-rays and will give me cancer.” These people are worried about ionizing radiation. Of course, all electromagnetic radiation is more energetic at higher frequencies, and only becomes ionizing at a certain point. This point is the boundary between UVA and UVB. Do you know where cell phones fall? They are in the microwave range, which is BELOW visible light. That’s right. Visible light carries more energy per quanta than microwaves. No matter how powerful a microwave source is, it can never ionize matter, so won’t cause cancer that way.
The second effect of microwaves is dielectric heating. This is how microwave ovens heat food. There can be biological effects associated with this. For instance, the lens of the eye has no blood flow and is not exactly alive, but can still be damaged by excessive heat. Leaky microwaves can overheat your eyes before you realize it and cause cataracts. Of course, finding a way to, say, microwave your hand can lead to some nasty burns. The burns can go much deeper than burns caused from the surface, but are otherwise no different. However, cell phones are vastly less powerful than microwave ovens. If nothing else, a cellphone’s battery places a major restraint on how much power a cellphone can output.
Self-absorbed loud-mouthed yakkers risk a greater harm. Having their phone rammed down their throat by me. (In my dreams)
Nintendonitis
is way better than wii-itis
Cell phones and wifi are not good for you.
The Telco industry has too much money invested to publish any negative evidence about wireless use.
Any while they may not be ionizing as stated before is irrelevant as all radio waves effect our bodies on a cellular level, there is something similar to a natural vibration frequency, and if you get too close to that there is damage done on a microscopic cellular level, which has been shown in many surveys to lead to brain tumors.
as for this elbow story, anything is possible.
it makes sense that a nerve under continual stress will cause problems.
Solution, Dont use a cell phone or wifi router – limiting your exposure to CLOSE SOURCES or radiation.
If you must, then use speakerphon or an airtube, not bluetooth, which is simply another dangerous radio signal going to your head.
oh and one more thing, if you do have to use bluetooth don’t wear the headset in public unless you want to look like a self indulgent moran. you really do look stupid, and no it doesn’t make you look important.
Unfortunately this is a necessary tool nowadays. It is kind of hard to create concious to all mankind before they cause more damage unless may doctors do some campains in order to prevent the use of cellphones unless they are really necessary to use.
