Can you spell multi-million dollar lawsuit?

A BLIND INTERNATIONAL interpreter who says he was dragged off a Belgium-bound flight, arrested and held in custody in Philadelphia for hours without food or water faces an arraignment Thursday.

His crime: He questioned why his U.S. Airways flight was delayed nearly two hours.
[…]
After the plane sat on the tarmac for some time, passengers were told that the flight would be delayed – without explanation, according to Cantisani. They were unable to use phones, receive attendant service or move from their seats.
[…]
“I felt I was being kidnapped – like I was a hostage,” Cantisani said of the wait.
[…]
He said the officers yanked Cantisani from his seat and dragged him off the plane, injuring his hand, which was gripping his seat belt . Then they forced him into a wheelchair.

At one point, an officer held him “by the throat,” he said.

Vanore said that Cantisani had been asked several times to leave the plane but continually refused.

A U.S. Airways representative said Cantisani was an unruly passenger who had refused to exit the plane.

During the struggle with police, Cantisani said, he lost his retractable walking cane, making him unable to navigate.

Officers told him they had done the “blind test” and didn’t believe he was blind, he said.

Vanore said he knew of no “blind test” administered by police.

Cantisani claimed he was held in police custody at the airport from about 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. without food, water or access to his phone or outside communication.

They probably were yelling at him too. I’m sure this would cause one to respond, “hey, I’m blind motherfucker, not deaf.”

  5. It never ceases to amaze me how “public servants can be just so dumb and never get held accountable for their actions
Try that for even a used car dealer

  6. tcc3 says:

Oh he definitely deserved it. Its what he gets for questioning authority. Next time maybe he’ll sit down, shut up and be a good sheep. Hes lucky he didn’t get tazed or a boot to the head.

    /sarcasm off

  7. This is obscene says:

His crime: He questioned why his U.S. Airways flight was delayed nearly two hours.”

The report makes it look like he was on a ride at Disneyland talking to Mickey Mouse. I would guess, just a wild guess, that he said something more like this in his “questioning” of authorities:

“You mother fokers what the fock is the focking problem get this focking plane going or I will…” at that time before he had chance to make the threat, he was finally handcuffed.

  10. noname says:

Question Authority, how dare he. This is the United States. You don’t question authority. Congress should change the dollar bill to say “In police we trust and obey”.

If police say your a criminal, you a criminal. They have no reason to lie.

If police arrest you, it’s only to protect the public from you committing more hanus acts on others.

Police don’t make mistakes because they are highly trained and only hire the best, brightest and most mentally stable.

Bush/Chenney where right, it may seem innocent, but we have to be proactive. It begins first with questioning authority, then it’s flying 747s into buildings, then it’s a mushroom cloud all over the world.

They should have tazed, maced then kicked him in the face for good measure. How else is he going to learn. How else are we going to protect ourselves and stop this from turning into a mushroom cloud?

Again this is America, where we worship George Bush and all his badge wearing sycophants.

All hail Bush, All hail CIA, All hail FBI, All hail NSA, All hail Dod, All hail Police, All hail Chenny, All hail Bush’s Ownership society, All hail Regan, All hail Nigerian yellow cake uranium, All hail Gulf of Tonkin, All hail the Tazer, All hail the IRS, All hail military tribunals, All hail guantanamo, All hail abu ghraib, All hail torture, All hail Bush’s sycophants, Alfred1, RBG, AngryN8, jopa All hail….

America is sick with fascist impulses, sadly. We have to have a public airing-out of our policies and procedures and truly have a discussion on what passes for justice and criminal enforcement in this country.

    Fact’s:

This man’s probrably worked as an international translator for decades – blind people rarely change employ.

    International translators fly continually.

Blind people need verbal communication to ascertain some details that are evident to the sighted. – Public transport is obligated to be handicapped accessible and should be aware of passengers with ‘special’ needs.

Quality of service of the airlines has taken quite a hit since the crisis began, and in some cases the service was pretty poor before hand. Uncertainty about job security makes for some pretty unmotivated employees.

Security jobs have always attracted those from the shallow end of the gene pool, even a blind person should know not to get defensive with those types.

    Conclusion:

    I’d rather walk.

  15. david says:

The underlying cause if this ruckus is the stupid rule airlines are rated “on time” if the plane pushes back from the gate then waits around two hours.

Without that stupid rule, they’d leave the passengers in the terminal more frequently rather than stuck on stuffy plane with 15 inches of leg room.

Yeah, maybe. But it wouldn’t surprise me AT ALL if there wasn’t ‘more to this story.’

I’m sure this was heard in Germany at one time:

“They dragged them out of the house and took them to a labor camp? Oh, well, there must be more to this story! I’m sure they talked back or something.”

ps: ‘talking back’ is not a crime.
