U.S. Probes Whether Afghan Forces Colluded With Taliban in Deadly Attack – FOXNews.com — Interesting report.

Afghanistan — A pre-dawn attack by the Taliban that killed three American soldiers and six other coalition troops earlier this month is raising new questions about many of the Afghan soldiers who were supposed to be fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with them.

Officials are investigating whether the Afghan troops may have colluded with the Taliban in the brazen assault on the remote coalition outpost along the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Their findings could complicate further the already difficult challenges U.S. trainers are having with the Afghan Army.

When your government is corrupt beyond belief and in a centuries long ethnic/tribal struggle and a foreign power occupies your country with god affronting troops who don’t speak your language and throw away as trash more than you can earn in a year and there presence is known to be temporary – – – – – – what would you do?

I still say, a few well places atomic bombs, and the problems in the middle east would be over.

Then we can fight this war on our turf, like real men…

(I’m being sarcastic, or am I?)

  3. AdmFubar says:

we need to fight this war the old fashioned way…

put the afgan troops out front, american troops behind them, guns pointed at the afgan troops.. nice and stalin like… 🙂
    so much for that problem..

We should do what we should have (but didn’t do, years ago) in Iraq. That is, suck it up and bring our guys home. Now. There is no, and will be no easy way out. Just get our people out now!

Even our own elected politicians have no respect for us. And I refer to both Democrats and Republicans.

Do bears poop in the woods? Of course they sell us out. All it takes is a threat from the Taliban to murder an Afgani’s family to get them sell out.

How do you tell the difference between an Afghani and a Taliban?

Seriously. This is not a setup for a joke. I’d like to know.

While we’re at it, can someone tell me the difference between Obama and Bush? (other than a slight difference in skin color).

I was against the FIRST invasion of Afghanistan back in 2001 and I got the hell beat out of me by conservatives and even many liberals.

I predicted that, in the long run, America would be way better off using law enforcement techniques to bring bin Laden to justice than war.

Can I say “I told you so!” yet?

I’ve known or met LOTS AND LOTS of Afghanis and a few Taliban (a couple dozen, maybe) and I think you ask a fair question.

It’s like asking, “How do you tell the difference between a southern white conservative and a KKK member?”

On casual observation the larger group may seem exactly like the smaller group but the differences become clear when you get to know them.

Sometimes you can guess by what mosques they attend and, of course, you can always ask. They usually aren’t shy about it over there like they would be over here.

Dropping American bombs on whole Afgani families doesn’t help either.

Fellas, give it up, pack the bags and head home, put this down to a bad war, in a bad place, in a bad situation, with no rewards at the end.
    Learn from it…..
Why, seems that Wall Street did the only thing that Bin Laden could’nt do, but wished he had, stuffed up up the western economic climate.
Sent half the European economy down the toilet and put America in an economic coma.
But get this, Bin Laden did’nt lift a finger, we did it for him….

#2 got it right. Pull our troops out and nuke the place to glass. Gives us the added benefit of proving our nukes still work, which will shut up some of the other crapholes out there.

You neglected mentioning that this would trigger a 1000-year asymmetrical war against America.

Is it too much to ask war mongers to even briefly consider consequences?

Really, Chuck? You can’t discern ANY difference between Bush and Obama? Either in character or policy? Only skin?

    Character:

Bush was shallow, intellectually lazy and disengaged.
Obama is smart, hard working and proactive.

Bush surrounded himself with cronies, sycophants and yes-men.
Obama surrounds himself with competent experts who challenge him.

Bush is a faith-based decision maker. Once his mind is made-up he NEVER changes.
Obama investigates and understands issues and adapts to changing realities.

    Policy:

    Bush didn’t protect before 911.
Obama is proactively trying to protect us

    Bush BUNGLED the post-911 response.
Obama is trying to get it right.

Bush invaded the wrong damn country in an endless war.
Obama is tying to get us out of Iraq.

Bush send the troops ill-equipped and neglected them when they returned.
Obama is trying to treat our troops right.

    Bush approved torturing people.
    Obama stopped it.

Bush opened Guantanamo as a place to lock people up without charges, evidence or a trial.
Obama is trying to close it.

Bush did NOTHING as the healthcare became a “system” where either you died or went broke if you got sick.
Obama is tying to fix that.

Bush happily sent our economy to the brink of collapse.
Obama is trying to fix that.

Seriously, Chuck, you never noticed ANY of those differences? Not even ONE? You only noticed the SKIN color?

This is just the list that comes immediately to mind. I could probably come up with three times this many.
