The on-again, off-again talks between Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp. about an online advertising deal are reportedly back on.

The discussions restarted a few weeks ago, and included a meeting between new Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, the technology blog AllThingsD said.

The two companies have intermittently talked about partnering in search engine advertising since last year after Microsoft’s unsolicited $47.5 billion takeover bid for the Sunnyvale Web portal fell apart. Microsoft executives have championed a partnership as a way to better compete with search industry leader Google Inc. while underscoring that they are no longer interested in an acquisition…

Representatives from Yahoo and Microsoft declined to comment.

You’d have to wake them to get a comment.

You’d have to wake me to get me to listen.

What if they merged…and nobody noticed?

  2. SP101 says:

My Zune keeps humming along, works like a champ, and only cost me $85. 30GB. Video. How much was a 30GB Ipud a couple of years ago? Nonetheless, Microsoft can’t get anything right when it comes to marketing, apparently. (Seinfield, anyone?). Yahoo could help. When do we see the Microsoft phone, which will also be a Zune in the marketplace. That’s OK, I’ll be able to pick one up for cheap, and it will work as well as a Ipud.

  3. Sea Lawyer says:

so how much methane does that cow produce?

  4. Jumpin' Jersey Joe says:

Apparently, around 100-200 liters a day.

Thats the most funniest name I have ever heard.

  6. Jägermeister says:

Do yourself a favor and buy an Archos 7 instead.

  7. deowll says:

More BS. If MS wants them then just start buying shares as long as they think the shares are priced for what they think they are worth or less and stop buying if the price goes to high.

I think the EU would throw a fit anyway and MS would not help Yahoo prosper. If they can’t run their own on line business for a profit they can’t run Yahoo for a profit.

Balmar is s dunce when it comes to doing on line business and he would be the man in charge. Sorry but the man has a track record and this is something he doesn’t get.

I like the arcos 7. How does it compare with a net book? My Eee PC has a larger screen 2 gig of ram and 160 gig hard drive but I can hook it to any size external hard drive.

The arcos should weigh about half as much.

  9. Microsoft should of learned its lesson of dealing in good faith before with the yahoo group
Fun and games – most likely yahoo with all its games will drop out again
After all they will probably be basing their price on the last offer and a top up on that
    Fun and games
