You've got to be kidding!

Winston, we hardly knew ye. Britney shaving her head

Children will no longer study the Second World War and Queen Victoria, but instead learn about Twitter and blogging under radical plans to overhaul primary school teaching.

The new draft curriculum commissioned by the Government claims that pupils can do without learning about the battle against Nazism and the rise and fall of the British Empire.

In a move which will horrify many parents, it would see children focus on internet tools such as Wikipedia and podcasting, as well as innovations such as blogging and Twitter, which allows users to post instant minute-by-minute updates about their lives.

  1. Benjamin says:

You can’t teach about Nazism. Otherwise the students might recognize what’s going on around them as the resurgence of Nazism: the British police state, the Nanny state, and the lost of basic civil liberties.

    Britain needs another Churchill now.

  2. bobbo says:

“minute-by-minute updates about their lives.” /// Lives? hah, hah. It just follows the growth in all these portable phones. Millions of phones, nothing to say.

What kind of “ego” do you have when you can get off on/feel “connected” by telling people you’re eating breakfast?

Thats only one step worse than responding to a blog!!

Time to jail all liberals in the UK. They are out of control.

  4. Paddy-O Time to jail all liberals in the UK. They are out of control.

And that is exactly what the Daily Mail wants you to think!

I don’t usually like to use all caps, but in this case I think it is warranted: THE DAILY MAIL IS NOT A CREDIBLE SOURCE OF NEWS!

THE DAILY MAIL IS NOT A CREDIBLE SOURCE OF NEWS!

  5. bobbo says:

#4–Neo==”Not a credible source of news” is what Paddy exclusively relies on. If it weren’t for discreditied links, he’d have no links at all. Close enough as it is.

  6. comhcinc says:

“For example, crucial historical periods such as the Second World War and Victorian Britain will no longer be compulsory. Instead teachers may choose any two periods of history they like.

The radical changes to the history syllabus are to avoid duplication with the Secondary school curriculum which covers the Second World War, it is claimed.”

    so what is the problem?

“The revamped curriculum also contains environmental lessons and ‘physical health and wellbeing’ which were previously not part of the curriculum.”

seems to me like they are going to be teaching the kids more not less.

Why not read the article first. You might not look so foolish.

Oh, what was that? You were going for the shock value? You’re trolling just to get hits for DU? You aren’t really an ignorant shit talking …, you’re just pretending?

OK, carry on. My bad, I guess.

  8. Mr. Fusion says:

This is a draft report with ideas to comment on. The history is also covered later in their lives. So is it really all that important to learn about British history at an early age instead of survival skills?

There are still a lot of people out there that don’t know how to do a search. And don’t ask me to mention anyone by name so I won’t mention Cow-Patty, RBG, Alphie, or Lyin’ Mike.

Churchill or the two World Wars are not important to young minds. The local history of their own town might be much more relevant though.

  9. Benjamin says:

“The revamped curriculum also contains environmental lessons and ‘physical health and wellbeing’ which were previously not part of the curriculum.”

So no Churchill because it is much more important to teach global warming hysteria and how to put a condom on a cucumber.

I guess they can stop singing “There Will Always Be England.” It is now a failed State.

  10. Greg Allen says:

    Paddy-o,

Reactionary much? Jail all liberals based on a dubious story about a draft memo? How conservative of you!

    Greg

As for me, I think schools need to formally address and teach-about the on-line and digital world. It has already hugely impacted schools and education.

Of course not in place of WWII. (but who honestly thinks this will happen? Even if Paddy-O wants to jail liberals for it!)

  11. Johan says:

Well of course, they want the population to get stupid. It’s easier to get disgusting things through the vote if the voters are dumb.

  12. Paddy-O says:

    # 10 Greg Allen said, “Reactionary much?”

Naw, just having some fun with a nutty subject. Plus, it’s fun watching push button robots like conFusion swoop in… 😉

#12, Cow-Paddy, Ignorant Shit Talking Sociopath, Retired Mall Rent-A-Cop, Pretend Constitutional Scholar, Fake California Labor Law Expert, Pseudo Military Historian, Phony Climate Scientist, and Real Leading Troll Extraordinare,

As I said in #7, “carry on.”

  14. mr. show says:

    There is no England anymore…
