A cryptic Web site that was set up by Microsoft but does not bear its name appears to hint that the company will reveal information about a new consumer product on Thursday. The site caused a flurry of speculation on Internet gadget gossip sites over the weekend.
The site, www.origamiproject.com, suggests that the introduction of a personalized mobile device that “will change your life” is in the offing, but gives no details. It promises an update on Thursday.
A number of industry analysts said that Microsoft, which has traditionally generated little suspense with its product announcements, was attempting to steal a page from Apple Computer’s playbook by fueling anticipation with secrecy.
My guess is a tablet-PC with a touchscreen that you can also use as a hotplate.
kinda like microsoft bob did a few years ago.. lol
Here’s the video that appeared on the marketing company’s website: http://www.pdamexico.net/abe/videos/msorigami.mpg
Oh, and the source of the findings:

I’m pretty sure that I don’t want any kind of “hot plate” generated by Microsoft. I think you’d get something involving plastic wrap and…..
well, you can google “hot plate” for the rest.
Not to be rude, but that’s not much of a guess since the pictures of the Origami are already out there.
The real questions are “Will it play games?” and “How much will it cost?”
I think the Oragami Project is the old “Wallet PC” Bill Gates discussed in Playboy in 1994

Origami – folding – get it. I hope it’s a large screen, folded up.
I don’t think he ever gives up on an idea.
Microsoft doesn’t come out with innovationg stuff. They just borrow ideas and enhance them- with lots of bugs.
My guess is they’ll come out with a pocket PC that is entirely voice operated (with an optional input device in case of lawsuits from the mute).
Wow. A flash site from 1997 with coding errors and what looks like a mac os x default background readjusted into an annoying animation. I’m impressed.
I hope it’s a True pocket PC running a real windows OS and not Windows mobile.
it looks as though microsoft has learned a thing or two from steve jobs about working the hype machine — they’ve done an excellent job marketing the xbox 360 — and if the new gizmo is as cool as we’re led to believe, they might just give the ipod a run for the $$
When they come out with a version that has a gun built into it I’m first in line.
Me, good idea.
I’m just hoping for something that will get me better gas mileage and slice and dice at the same time.
wow. it’s huge. i don’t think it can even fit in a normal backpack
