CBBC Newsround | Animals | Herman could be ‘biggest bunny’ — Can you imagine the size of the droppings this thing leaves?

Herman lives in a specially built solid oak hutch and chomps his way through just over 2kg of food a day. His owner says his favourite snack is lettuce.

Herman could be the world’s biggest rabbit, but Guinness World Records have stopped accepting entries because of fears people were over-feeding their pets.

  2. J. Cottrell says:

i never like ordering rabbit at restaurants because there is always so little meat on those bones. This guy will make me think twice next time!

  3. Magellan Lemongelo says:

That looks like a Photoshop contest award winner to me.

  4. KB says:

Take a look at the feet on that thing. Now we know where the Bigfoot footprints came from.

  5. ECA says:

Have any of you seen a REAL jackrabbit…?
They can ALOMST be that size..

  6. Robert says:

When I saw this headline I thought the company “Monster” was re-releasing the Rabbit system from the 80’s.

    Good eating

    Wabbit Season!!

  9. Jon says:

    Does look photoshopped though.

  10. T.C. Moore says:

    Where does it looked Photoshoped?
He’s got his arm wrapped around it, and you can see his hand under its bum.

I bet a wabbit this old and big would taste tough and stringy.

  11. Alsatia says:

    Duck Season!!

(I’m 50-50 on the photoshop thing. The arm across the top and bottom looks a little too perfect to me…)

    WABBIT SEASON!!

If it isn’t photoshop or could it be the lens? Compare the heads of both of them.

  13. T.C. Moore says:

Its head is 12 inches closer to the camera.
And the head doesn’t look out of proportion to its body.
It’s just a really big rabbit.

Look at the fur draping over the arms and hand. How could photoshop do that?

  14. Greg says:

It’s the BBC! Images that appear on random web sites are one thing, but I find it amusing that people are also claiming Photoshopping of images on the BBC, and previously an AP story in Yahoo news (I forget what it was about though.)

Although there was that one NYT photo that got the guy fired, but they didn’t base the story on it.

    (Duck season!)

  15. Rod says:

    Duck Season!

  16. Smith says:

Shadows. The arm around the rabbit doesn’t cast a shadow on the rabbit, which means the light source must be below the arm level and to the left of the camera. Yet the shadow on the man’s face suggests the light source is from the upper left, which is also supported by the shadow on the arm itself.

    It looks photoshopped to me.

And as someone who raised a few rabbits as a kid — rabbits sometime object to being held and are quite a handful when they do. One that size would kick the living daylights out of a guy. Would a sane man subject himself to that more than once? (Well I’ve been married twice, so I guess it isn’t that farfetched.)

  17. Pat says:

Photoshop Smotoshop. Just warm up the Barby, we’re a feasting tonight.

  18. My son was telling some people about this a while ago and no one believed him until he showed them some google search results. LOL!

  19. Seanaci says:

It’s gotta be photoshopped. The hand on the rabbit’s bum looks way low compared to the guys height. Plus, I agree with the person about the shadows. And if you look at the black of the guys hat and shirt, they stick out from the rabbit…the fur would lay noticeably over the sleeve. And the rabbit ears by the hat don’t mesh smoothly.

    Anywho.

    its…its….El Chewpascabbage!

  21. Roseann says:

    happy hoppin easter

  22. AVC says:

This is not photo shopped it is just a photo of a man holding a large rabbit from a low angle close to the rabbits feet. It is simply done to make the rabbit looke huge.

  23. Cyndi says:

Also? I saw film of it. Not PS’d at all. He is a year old, so not tough and stringy, and eats 4 pounds of food a day!

  25. Cynthia Womack says:

Don’t you people know a lagomorphic-type pookah when you see one?

If you happen to meet an adult version of Herman, wriggle your nose,
flick your head to the side quickly (to touch your shoulder or flip your hair)
and offer it a bit of fruit or stand it to a drink.
