Has anyone seen this happen? One of the things that seems to be slowing down this blog is the calendar widget in wordpress. From what I can tell it makes a MySQL call that isn’t indexed and since this blog has some 12k articles it created so many queries that it would overload the server. Am I missing something or does this happen to other people?
There are beaucoup calendar plugins for WP. What’s the source for this one, Marc?
It seems to be some standard widget, but I’m not sure. I’m still looking into it.
Hard to tell what is going on. The entire site is flacky.
I would look at its coding…It may have been doing MORE then needed.

Do you mean which file is calling the calendar?
If so and you are not using sidebar widgets (and sometimes depending on the theme), most of the time the calendar is called in the sidebar.php file.
There is a WordPress plugin called AJAX Calendar that is an alternative to the original calendar. While I wouldn’t normally think AJAX would help reduce the load, it does say one of the features is full caching support.
Might be worth a try just to see if it helps.
Every time I post a comment. Then I hit the back button, nothing happens. I have to go back to the main page by going into my favorites. This is the only web site where this happens. John your a geek. Time to step it up. This has been going on for far to long.

I don’t know why, but there are periods when the site just bogs down. I usually open each post in its own tab so I can come back to it later. When this is slow, all the tabs get slow.
But when it is good, all is good and fast.
