Gulfnews: Three-month jail term against student suspended — I’m not sure why, but something about this story amused me. Of course if this happened in the USA the kid would have been in Gitmo by now.
Dubai: A court has suspended a three-month jail sentence against a student who insulted and threatened to kill three customs inspectors at the airport.
The Dubai Court of Appeal convicted the 21-year-old Syrian student of insulting and threatening three Emirati customs inspectors at Dubai International Airport but the judge suspended his three-month jail term for three years during which the defendant is expected not to repeat his crime.
The Public Prosecution had charged the accused, A.M., with threatening to kill the inspectors, who were performing their duties. He was also charged with cursing and belittling the three claimants, A.S., M.A. and Y.M…
“I searched his luggage which didn’t contain anything suspicious& during that he told me mockingly, ‘Go ahead search my bag strong man’. He also asked me sarcastically, ‘Why don’t you search between the letters of the writing on my T-shirt’,” testified A.S.
You get the sense this was like some diplomats kid throwing his weight around. A charmer.
Snarky? – – – : “The witness stated that the accused threatened to wait outside the airport and kill or harm anyone who dared to search him.” /// Yea, the kid strikes me as Diplomatic Next Gen but has “snarky” become this aggressive?
I’d think a few days spent in a psyche-eval for anger management could have done some good==at least until his daddy came and bailed him out?
I think he should be extremely thankful he wasn’t charged with attempted assault. For laughers though, he should have received at minimum a week behind bars.
Threatening people just doing their job goes way past being “snarky”.
Loose his luggage.
Maybe someday he’ll have the pleasure of arriving at LAX on an international flight…

Nope… If this had been some diplomat’s kid he could have crapped on the heads of the three custom inspectors and the worse they could have done to him was put him on the next plane home unless his home country OK’d something worse.
If he was a diplomat’s kid, he would have had immunity and wouldn’t have been searched to begin with.
