A Jacksonville promotions company plans to sell a doll as a tribute to slain toddler Caylee Marie Anthony. The Inspirational Caylee Sunshine Doll will go on sale Tuesday for $29.99. Instead, he said, they want to honor and respect Caylee’s life by bringing awareness to her case.

“We want it to be a tribute,” he said.

Salcedo said this is the first product his promotions company will sell that is inspired by the victim of a crime. Salcedo said he plans to donate a portion of the proceeds to charity — though he does not have an organization lined up yet. Salcedo said he’s waiting to hear back from several organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. He is considering donating $3 for every doll sold. Asked about whether it’s appropriate for his company profit on Caylee’s death, Salcedo said he is anticipating critics.

“I think that that is going to come up,” he said.

Salcedo said the public does not understand what it costs to make the doll, ship it, import it, and his company’s expenses. The blonde-haired, 18-inch doll wears jeans and a T-shirt depicting a sun and the phrase: “CAYLEE SUNSHINE.” The song “You Are My Sunshine” plays when her belly button is pushed. Jaime Salcedo, president of Showbiz Promotions, said he is not selling a doll that looks exactly like Caylee because it would be too morbid and difficult for the public.

I dunno, sounds a tad sleazy to me.

Oh, man! And I thought my “Caylee in a bag” tribute was going to be the first to cash in on this “national tragedy”!

  2. Mr. Fusion says:

I think he is forgetting something. He would need the permission of the mother.

The part I really liked though is where he says it costs money to import the doll. If he really wanted to memorialize the girl he would have them made locally.

  3. bobbo says:

What else is Christ on the Cross?

  4. Mr Diesel says:

The sale of the doll has already been suspended.

It isn’t a likeness of the real little girl so why would anyone need the dirtbag mother’s permission?

  5. Mr. Fusion says:

    #4, Mr. Diesel,

Because they are using the child’s name and fame to enrich themselves. The exact likeness to the child is secondary and irrelevant if the promoter claims it represents the child.

  6. Stephanie says:

I am sure Casey wouldn’t mind. Proceeds could go directly to her for being a victim of such a tragic event (because she is soooo innocent), then she could buy some more makeup in jail since she can’t steal checks anymore.

  7. Mr. Fusion says:

    #6, Stephanie,

I am so glad you recognize that in America we still accord people the right of “Innocent until proven guilty”. Legally, all proceeds would go to her.

I am unaware of any jail allowing inmates to buy cosmetics. Maybe you could cite one that does.

I’d like to send the bastard profiteers somewhere that the sun DON’T shine!

  9. Stephanie says:

    Well Mr. Fusion,

I guess I will do your simple internet research for you.
Here is a list of the exact items that Casey Anthony can purchase.

    Notice #900, 910 & 911???

She has the rights of being innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. That clearly excludes the court of public opinion which is where she is guilty beyond belief.

    I’m a sick, sick MF.

I feel so disgusting some times, my sense of humour borders on the offensive some times.. The moment I saw on the news that someone was selling Caylee dolls the first thought that popped out of my head was “is it anatomically correct?”
